nojodas67 wrote i am about to flush the radiator in my ram 2500 with cummins engine. the bottle cap says use only special coolant. what could be so special about this coolant; afterall its a cast iron block and head engine. gm now has a lawsuit against their special coolant; experts claim it ruined their engines. any thought john not sure about the cummins but i just wanted to say that my elderly parents just had to spend $3600 to put a new engine in their oldsmobile. mechanic said the dexcool had ruined the engine. gigantic mistake gm wont cover a penny of it. said its not their problem. i would be really interested in any class action lawsuit against gm. bob .

bigpapi wrote my dakota is recently overheating since i installed a new thermostat it ran perfect all summer without a thermostat i replaced the radiator water pump and all of the hoses when my heater is blowing hot air the truck does not overheatbut as i am driving the blower all of a sudden starts blowing cold air and then my engine overheats very rapidly i tried replacing the thermostat twice allready but i have the same problem. i need help please!! probably air in the system. not a big deal but can be a pain. take the thermostat out and drill a small hole in the plate - 1/8 or 3/16. refill the syetem making sure that the filler neck is the highest point in the system. make sure the overflow tank is filled with the appropriate amount of fluid. that should take care of it. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1965 ffr cobra - finally on the road! .

carolina watercraft works wrote i just repositioned the center belt end and keep it connected when im not actually wearing the belt. it sits right there next to the female end just in case i happen upon a law enforcement official. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. in the battle between money and love money will always triumph i may have to change my signature......on second thought i was right the first time. re5 ram i drive 8 blocks to work i am the only vehicle out in this town at the time i always wear my seat belt except this 20 mph drive to work. any ideas on how to quiet or stop the irritating dinger without a seatbelt end the seat belt is there to protect your life/good looks not to prevent getting a ticket. wear it! jam .

first thanks for all your help and advice. to recap i recently bought a 2001 dodge 24v quad cab long bed td. i had a pressure guage installed on the lift pump to monitor pressure. it was installed between the lift pump and filter. it registered around 7.5 psi at idle varied by +/- 1 psi or so and would drop to 3 2 or even 1 psi while under very moderate power empty truck not pushing it. i bought a pump and filter around $180 with tax from cummins. replacing the pump was not that bad a job. using a furniture pad to kneel on i used a 14 mm socket to remove the bolt holding the retainer for the intake fuel hose a 17 mm ratcheting wrench to remove the intake and output hoses being careful to save the gaskets! then finally a 13 mm socket to remove the 3 bolts holding the pump. i had to use an 11 mm wrench to hold one of the studs as it came loose from the pump and finally it came out of the pump and a tiny vise-grip came to the rescue holding the stud while removing the nut. of course you need to unplug and reconnect the electrical! installation the reverse of removal went much more smoothly than removal except for losing the 8mm bolt that holds the retainer for the intake hose but i bought another from the local hardware store so we are ok again. i replaced the filter too as it was 15k ago. i filled the filter reservoir with diesel fuel and when i started the engine i maintained 2000 rpm to keep it from stalling it did not try to stall. now the pressure is 15 psi at idle and i cannot so far get it to drop below 10 psi. it seems my investment in gauges has saved me a $2k repair bill for the main injection pump! so we watch the gauges and wait for the next time... charles .
