Is there a site listing recalls?

From : jigger

Q: on sun 26 dec 2004 194857 gmt john kunkel i think you need to re-read both your post and maxs john... make 2 lists person and office... fill out each list as you read the posts... i think you and max are saying pretty much the same thing but you misunderstood him.. probably in a valiant attempt to defend slick willie who imho made the office very difficult to respect according to scottys logic if no one occupied the office you should still respect it. the man is the office. .

writes my 2000 ram 1500 has the 5.2 v8 fi. last time i checked i was getting 13 mpg. i have not checked this tank but it is going to be dismal with just over 300 miles and the get gas light is on! i am a more conservative driver and expected to get more like 18 to 20 mpg. i am going to add some sea foam tomorrow when i fill up but i do not think i should have to do that. this is my first fi engine. it seems to run great no missing hesitation or anything like that. any suggestions on why the mileage is so bad what can i do phyloe welcome to the family of dodge full-size pickups with a gasoline engine. those of us who love these trucks prefer not to talk about fuel economy with them because there is no such thing. by the way in case youre wondering the little v6 is no better. they are gas guzzlers period. please note the period. 13 mpg around town is pretty much normal. look for 15-16 on the highway with the cruise control set on 55. at interstate highway speeds of 70-75 youll probably be back down around 13. trust me the truck likes 13. and if you think 13 is bad hang a boat trailer onto the ass end of it with something small like an 18 runabout or bass boat & 175 hp merc engine on it. over flat terrain with no headwind youll be very lucky to get 9 mpg. want to really screw up your gas mileage with it put something really stupid on it like a camper shell. plan on doing a little snow plowing with it pundits will argue that the 1500 is undersized for plowing and yes it is a little small but you can do it. just expect to average around 6-7 mpg. aside from the piss-poor gas mileage those of us here in this group really love our dodges and if polled youd find many of us would probably buy another. im pretty sure i would. .

max340 wrote i used the rik-ram kit... great stuff! i followed dss advice and went with a conservative design and still my hi-beams are as strong as my hella driving lights. perhaps dan finally found something at which he is an expert. sounds a bit odd to me that normal headlamps could be made as bright as aftermarket driving lamps by the consumer without replacement of the bulb. i did replace the bulbs sort of. plus the wiring is heavier and the path from battery to bulb is shorter. aside from the nice pieces in the kit heres where ds helped some folks converting to quad bulb sport headlights choose to have all eight filaments lit when hi-beams are selected. i decided to wire mine up so six filaments lit - hi on the inboard bulbs hi + lo on the outboard bulbs. i ran the idea past ds and got this... dual-filament headlamp bulbs are intended and safe to run only *one* filament at a time except for very brief changeover periods during beam selection. 100% overload on the common ground support and bulb internal pressure goes through the roof remember these bulbs are at 10 atmospheres *cold*. frequently they grenade inside the headlamp destroying it. oops i hadnt considered current overload through ground or pressure. so i use just the four hi filaments as recommended and get plenty of photons out of them! silverstars were added outboard and i put my stock bulbs in the new inboard reflectors. when i have hi-beams selected then switch the hella 550 driving lights on i see very little extra illumination. the 550s were a great addition when i had stock ram headlights now i really dont need them any more. .
