Is Chrysler forcing Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep dealers to merge?

From : miles

Q: just got word from my dealer that they have been told they must buy out the nearby chrysler dealer or sell to them. the two dealerships are about 1 mile apart. my dealer stated they dont have the cash to buy the chrysler/jeep dealer out so they are selling. another chrysler dealer i frequent is purchasing a dodge dealership across the street for the same reason. is chrysler really forcing this consolidation of dealerships im hoping my dodge dealers service manager finds work at another chrysler dealership so i can keep my business with them. only service dept. ive ever found that got things done right the 1st time with out tons of arguing with them. .

ed medlin wrote yep it probably would if for no other reason other than their service is impeccable. looking for the nearest dc/jeep dealership and it is about 15 miles away. i guess it could happen. in my case the dodge dealership has outstanding service. always gets the job done without having to argue. often going out of their way and doing extra things free of charge wash wax etc. as well as minor repairs outside of warranty. unfortunately the nearby chrysler/jeep dealer is larger and will be buying out the dodge dealership next month. my service manager as told me the entire department will be out of a job at that time. i can only hope the manager finds work at another chrysler or dodge dealership i can go to. the owner may build a new dealership elsewhere. .
