Intermittent low oil pressure

Q: have you seen the new channel lock commercial they are running on hgtv no wonder dad taught me to never use channel locks when a properly sized tool is available. lol -- fmb only one b in fmb i will remember that i thought vise grips was the mother of destruction. although they can help repair the damage caused by the channel lock and the hammer. my dad always told me a real mechanic never uses a hammer. .

did you check the oil level -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving does anyone know why when i start up my 1999 dakota 3.9l it takes about 5 sec for the engine to get oil pressure after driving about 15 minutes the check engine light came on and 0 oil pressure. it recovered oil pressure some 3 sec later.oil changed with new filter 300 miles ago. yesterday i was driving 55 mph and the check engine light came on no oil pressure. couldnt get off the road and drove for 10 min with this condition. i dont beleive the oil pump is at fault 52k miles. is the sending unit electrically connected to the dash gauge what else could be wrong .

who did the oil change and what make of filter was used i would look into replacing the filter and putting a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it to see what is really happening. it could just be the sensor failing and you try just replacing it first. i would avoid driving it very far until you determine what is causing the problem. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving did you check the oil level jeepoil level ok. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving does anyone know why when i start up my 1999 dakota 3.9l it takes about 5 sec for the engine to get oil pressure after driving about 15 minutes the check engine light came on and 0 oil pressure. it recovered oil pressure some 3 sec later.oil changed with new filter 300 miles ago. yesterday i was driving 55 mph and the check engine light came on no oil pressure. couldnt get off the road and drove for 10 min with this condition. i dont beleive the oil pump is at fault 52k miles. is the sending unit electrically connected to the dash gauge what else could be wrong .

snyder.on .ca says... does the engine get noisy when the light comes on low no oil pressure should make the valves get noisy - but just because they dont does not mean you do not have a problem. the oil pressure switch would be my first suspect but i had a similar problem on a dodge minivan 3.0 engine after a lube-shop oil change with cheap penzoil 5w30 and filter. fresh oil change with quality components solved the problem - the oil that came out was thin as diesel fuel - and not fuel diluted. this engine did get noisy when the light came on so i new instantly it was not the pressure guage misbehaving. exactly the same problem i just had. i have a 3.0l with 187k on it. burns very little oil and is quite quiet most of the time. i normally use valvoline maxlife oil in it and have never had a problem. i got talked into having my oil changed by the place my x-bro-in-law works and they used the cheap bulk penziol. the thing rapped like the hill district of pittsburgh until i got the oil replaced with the maxlife again. i did also notice my old light flickering while using that el-cheapo oil where it does not now. chas .
