im thinking the poster with the three relays had the best solution. you could just throw them in your pocket they arent heavy like the battery no thief is going to have a spare set much less even know they are missing. what thief is going to break into a second vehicle looking for relays to start your vehicle. if you remove the battery youll reset the ecu and the van may run rough for a few days. id also use the club as a visual deterent. might save the cost of a window. im down for the relays. as for the club waste of money even for a deterent. id opt for a alarm decal of some sort at least the thief wont know what he has to defeat imho. roy why no just pull the ignition fuse beekeep on 19 oct 2005 230135 -0700 timw spiderweb-books@earthlink.net wrote im about to head out on a 10 week trip round the usa in my conversion van and as it will be my home for most of that time i wanted to ensure that it will be as secure as possible from thieves. i dont really have much confidence in regular alarm systems - when was the last time you saw an alarm go off and heard someone say quick call the police as i have a padlocked strong box under the bed inside i figured i might be able to quicky detach a key component from the engine and stash it in the locked box while im away from the vehicle but i dont know what would be most suitable. in the old days i could have simply removed the distributer cap but with computer managed fuel systems now that isnt an option. any ideas i saw an interesting suggestion elsewhere about putting a switch on the line to the fuel pump and hiding it somewhere under the dash but i dont know how easy that would be to do or whether it would cost me a couple of hundred dollars to get an auto electrician to put it in for me. is there a key and unique fuse somewhere on board that i could take out one last point. when i say a strong box i mean just that. its similar to the tool boxes on the back of many pickup trucks and its actually bolted to the floor from the inside so that the only way you could take it out of the vehicle is to break open the lid or padlocks. any advice on the matter would be much appreciated. thanks .

i expected a little more balls from you people. good lord! sell it and get what you want. huge project not likely. every part needed is available in some form or another. no fabrication necessary. with a donor truck available i could have it done in a day. it is a huge project and while an experienced mechanic might be able to do it in a day most cannot. also every part is made and available somewhere but.. .where donor truck well gee if he had a friggin 5spd truck hed be driving it not swapping its trans into another truck. i hate to say it but ill agree with tbone this project verges on the insane given that there are trucks already built with 5spds. thanks for the info on the 1500 ram. it sounds like dodge never offered anything smaller than the nv4500 with the 360. i might have to brave the nv3500 or look into something from another manufacturer which will greatly increase the complexity of the project. since the nv3500 was not rated at a torque capacity that would handle the 360 it was never bolted to a 360 from the factory. however and this is the subject of much debate its likely that a 360 flywheel for the nv4500 will handle the nv3500. since the 360 and 318 share castings the nv3500 can be bolted to the 360. -- max give a man a match and he is warm for a short while. light him on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life. i expected a little more balls from you people. good lord! sell it and get what you want. huge project not likely. every part needed is available in some form or another. no fabrication necessary. with a donor truck available i could have it done in a day. thanks for the info on the 1500 ram. it sounds like dodge never offered anything smaller than the nv4500 with the 360. i might have to brave the nv3500 or look into something from another manufacturer which will greatly increase the complexity of the project. -rev .
