Installed Powertrax No-Slip: IT DOESN'T WORK!

From : ron m

Q: if you dont trust what the authority on the product sells than by all means put dexron/mercon in it or better yet type f. that will make the clutches grab real good. ;- um the authority on the product has a monopoly on it and therefore has a vested interest in selling it. a lot of money. this is how atf +3 worked out. with atf +4 chrysler got greedy and decided to use atf+4 as a leverage to get people to come into dealership service departments and to make money off fluid sales. of course an automaker is not setup to distribute fluids and can only do so very inefficiently which is why they sell the stuff for the $5 a bottle or whatever rediculous price it is now. on tuesday i called around and discovered that both our area chrysler dealerships unrelated ownership were selling atf+4 for the same price $7.20/qt. youch! still i felt i had no choice but to get it to be sure i was doing the best thing for my friends van. me to parts guy at dealership so whens chrysler gonna let somebody else sell this stuff parts guy hopefully never. so i picked up two gallons and did the flush. correct fluid level. so two days later yesterday i went back to the same dealer for the final two quarts and guess what - the price had dropped to $5.10/qt. doh!!! mike .

i just bought a bug shield for my 04 dakota. draw-tite 8062 3 piece install instructions that came with it look like a faxed copy of a fax. the two wings have tape. i assume these adhere to the hood there are two holes on the end but i cant see any use for them. the main piece has holes to screw it into the grill but im worried about the fit. it looks like the ends of the shield will rest on the hood. wont that rub over time anyone have this installed that might tell me how it should look when install is complete mark .

the clay bar wont remove the clearcoat. one solvent that will work is acrysolv or 3m body solvent which is sold at good parts stores. hope this helps! chryco service manager member sae i thought about that but i am concerned because the sap is on the truck so thick. if i keep rubbing with a clay bar i am afraid that i will rub off some or most of the clear coat in the area. is that really a possibility dddd get a clay bar and rub it out. ive had dried sap on my trucks and the clay bar took it off. remember to wax your truck afterwards because as i remember clay also takes the wax off. on sat 6 mar 2004 050204 -0500 dddd someone@some.one wrote ive got a 2003 ram 1500 and i used it to haul some pine trees i had to cut down. i let it set too long before washing and now have pine sap all along the side and back of the bed. i have tried goo-gone polish and even paint thinner and nothing touches it. any suggestions other than not to do that again dddd its mr. rather b. beachen to you ratherbbeachen@hotmail.com .

ron m. wrote mark wrote whats the down side to having powertrax why dont vehicles have this designed in how much did it cost you yeah ron lots more info please! you recorded it all with your digital camera and are putting the pics up on a web site. right the powertrax web page says special gear and spring design reduce the backlash and therefore driveline windup. have you noticed any change in that compared to the stock setup sorry no digital pics it just didnt work out i was lying under the truck in dark overcase weather with my hands and forearms covered with black greasy goo. for a really good summary of how it all went and some installation issues that came up read the other thread powertrax no-slip installation final comments. there still is a little backlash - if youre coasting with your foot off the gas and then apply the gas itll sort of clunk back into engagement. you feel it more than you hear it sort of like a transmission shifting gears. feel free to ask me any other questions. ron m. no pics really needed your comments have been great. since you have that cushy auto transmission you probably cant answer the backlash question. with a manual creeping across broken pavement or speed bumps in the lower gears can really start a truck bucking and lurching sometimes. if the powertrax adds to the driveline windup it might not be a good tradeoff for me. .
