broke...can you replace clutch without removing compresser...can you even buy just clutch...whats the trick if any to remove clutch......thanks....mike yes it an be done. youd have to unbolt the compressor from the mount but it can remain in the vehicle and the system can remain charged. you need a couple of special tools to do the job however. your best bet if youre going to do it yourself is to obtain a factory service manual. .

peter peter@greatnowhere.com wrote in does anyone know specs input voltage impedance etc on stock infinity amplifier in durango 99 im thinking about replacing the stock radio but will probably leave amplifier in place. chances are pretty good that any decent aftermarket head unit will have more power than the infinity so it may be better to simply bypass the infinity and go directly from your new head to the speakers. of course your best bet is to replace both the head unit and the speakers. thanks! ive already replaced rear & front speakers with kenwood 17cm ones infinity speakers were blown but left stock tweeters in place. so youre using the oem wiring with the integrated crossover for the fronts there is no crossover to speak of. electrical diagrams do not even show one but ive seen capacitor soldered on the tweeter ; ah so the door speakers are running full range interesting. considering how cheap as in quality not cost the entire infinity option is it wouldnt surprise me if that cap was the crossover. would you recommend tossing the amplifier and get a decently powered head unit or maybe get a head unit with no amp and re-use infinity amp can it be tricked into accepting line-out instead of speaker level inputs considering youve already upgraded the speakers you might want to get a decent head unit and bypass the infinity amp altogether. this will give you more power to the speakers but youll have to run new wiring directly from your new head unit to the speakers. youll also have to get a crossover for the front tweeters as the oem crossovers are buried somewhere in the factory wiring. otoh you can always tap into the factory wiring after the infinity output which would enable you to use the factory crossovers for the tweeters. tapping into factory wiring would probably be best. since i have service manual its a piece of cake to locate all those wires. i installed a sony 45x4 rms amp w/7-band eq after the infinity amp. big improvement but not anywhere near as clean as i want. i tapped right into the wiring between the infinity output and the speakers. on my 03 dak everythings in the passenger kick panel. btw are there any non-oem units that can read data from vehicles ccd bus control buttons on the steering wheel transmit via ccd anyway plus it would provide vehicles speed to head unit thus allowing for volume auto-adjust... no idea - ive never gone down that road. ; that would be pretty cool though. i doubt you can feed the infinity a line level signal as it was designed to accept speaker outputs from the oem radio. if you really want to stay with the infinity you can probably just run the speaker leads from the new head unit right into the infinity. theres no guarantee however that you wont overload the infinity input stage due to the aftermarket head units higher power. ok thanks a lot for the info! peter glad to have helped. and thanks for the info about the crossovers. joe .

greg surratt wrote i found this quote in 2000 the first full year a hybrid -- the honda insight -- was on the market hybrid fuel economy averaged 65 miles per gallon. now with seven hybrids on the market average fuel economy has slipped to around 45 mpg according to edmunds.com. over the same period average horsepower for hybrids has climbed from 73 to 176.4 this year. of course. fuel economy isnt sexy! horsepower is! here http//www.det.com/2005/autosinsider/0503/27/a01-126133.htm good article. tanstaafl ;- yup. if you want to make horsepower you have to burn fuel. but hybrids have certain other advantages. true hybrids that is. several years ago oshkosh diesel made a hybrid of their 8x8 heavy truck. they used off the shelf parts that have been used in diesel-electric locomotives for decades. they went from 2 transmissions and 5 gearboxes to engine generator controller and 4 electric motors. their trucks fuel consumption was cut in half and reliability was doubled. now if engineers can just get that kind of stuff small enough to use in a practical passenger vehicle well be in business. but i dont expect the oil companies to ever let it happen. how exactly are the oil companies going to stop it -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

i have or my wife has a 1989 caravan with a 3 liter eng that has developed a problem. it wants to miss every so often when cruising down the highway. i have replaced the gas filter but that didnt help. i took the plugs out and they all look good. is this an electrical problem or a fuel problem thanks ron .
