Impatient truck

Q: i had to replace an egr valve when my old tech chevy van did the same thing. it would surge through parking lots like i couldnt control my foot at slow speeds. now this is something my daks done since i got it. at first i thought it was user error. there was a big gap between purchasing my previous truck 1991 and this one 2001 so i wasnt sure if it was a technology thing. over time i just got used to it. but i wonder sometimes... in first and sometimes in second gear when going really slow the truck will lunge forward a bit back to normal forward back. sometimes just a bit sometimes quite a lot. kind of like a dog lunging on a leash. not sure if its even particularly noticible outside the truck but sure is inside. hope i described it well enough. it doesnt do this at any other time just at the very bottom of first gear - if i went much slower itd stall - and sometimes at the very bottom of second as well. any thoughts jmc .

i didnt know that dodge built a f150. when did ford start outsourcing - -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving my p/u has a strange problem. when you turn on the heater / a/c on high the blower motor is blowing at high speed but the air coming out of the ducts fills like medium at best. also the heater temp is not very hot at all. i live in north texas so one day i need the heater and the next day i need the a/c. .

i called my dodge dealer to order this heater cord and they told me that they are on back order and could take about a month to get in. so i ordered the cord from genos garage. the price was $26.95 + about $3 for shipping. genos part number is 3963564. it worked perfectly and is a cummins part. the cord came with mounting attachments already on it and they lined up perfectly with the mounting holes in the truck frame. total installation time took all of about 10 minutes. if you have a long enough arm you can mount the cord from under the truck like i didwith ease. .

my 90 dakota glove compartment has the style of latch with the slot for the key and the raised flanges on each side of the slot for you to grab & twist to open its door but on mine that outer handle just spins. i can still open it using the key but even that barely works. i went to just take it off to replace it but couldnt figure out how it comes off. anyone else have that problem its just a regular-cab so not much room for stuff and would really be nice to at least have a glove box grrr. .

partsmore wrote the lower seat cover on my ram is torn i would like to fix it and put a new cover on the lower seat cushion. dealer said the cover is over $200.00 i dont want seat covers! --- i need the left inner door panel - also $200.00! if anyone has any good ideas on how to get these pieces and replace them with originals without spending $400.00- please email me at partsmore@dtnspeed.net vin 3b7kf26w4xm573695 thank you! the seat cushion cover quoted is most likely the factory equivalent piece that covers the bare padding on your seat. its not like the aftermarket seat covers that you can buy at autozone to cover the torn upholstery. $200 is a fair price for this kind of thing. if you want a seat cover/cushion that has heat and vibrating massage brookstone has a good one. join the sss. http//tinyurl.com/67fn6 .

thanks guys. i was nearly sure in my own mind additives wouldnt work and i was nearly certain there was something with the valve seals. i think it has a tapping sound on the right side of the engine so there may even be a lose valve over there. i appreciate you confirming my suspicions. thanks john. sir an engine with 139k miles will use some oil due to ring wear etc. as i am shure you are aware blue smoke is oil and white is water. i had a 318 cid ram that started showing those symptoms that is small amounts of blue smoke when starting. it was leaking oil past the valve stem seals. the fix was to have the heads rebuilt any decent auto machine shop will do it. maxpower is also correct when suggesting not to use aditives. they indeed are a waste of money and can actually leave deposits thruout the lower engine and block passages. henry i have a 1995 dodge dakota with the 3.9 v6. i have changed the oil religeously in it every 3k since it was new and now has 139k on it. recently it has started to smoke when i start it and is using oil. is there anything cheap or like and additive i can put in it to solve this problem i know it needs rebuild but i cant afford that. john .
