coasty wrote just a follow-up 87 burns at a faster rate than 91 octane fuel. also use what your owners manual or the manufacturer recommends. i know my autos say use 87 and my bike says use 87 or higher. i use higher because it prevents knocking when the bike gets hot especially in traffic. most owner manuals state use 87 not because it runs the best on them because most modern high compression engines realy do not but because of for marketing reasons. it would kill sales if they labeled their vehicals as requireing higher octane fuel. also the difference in burn rate is minimal but oremium does burn just a bit slower but it does have a higher pre-igniton point than regular. also some fuel do have a detergent addive of sorts to keep injectors clean and some even use a additive to minimize or prevent formation of ice crystal in fuel in extreme cold if moistue is present in fuel in small amounts. so would a bone stock 1995 dodge neon benefit from 91 over 87 .

on fri 27 may 2005 013228 gmt tbone t-bonenospam@nc.rr.com wrote hi all! been wondering lately about replacement of the front rotors on my 99 ctd 2500 rwd. is there a measurement or rule of thumb used by brake shops on when the rotors need to be replaced or is it strictly appearance out of true criteria thats used also how many times can the rotors be resurfaced brake rotors should never be resurfaced it just takes the life out of them. if they are warped or gouged then just replace them otherwise they should be good to go. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving pure bullshit. i have had mine turned every time that i have replaced the brake pads. i have only replaced the rotors once the last brake job and have over 260000 miles on the vehicle. the pads last longer and there is no pull to either side when braking. lol just because you like to waste money and beat down your rotors doesnt mean anything. if you get to someone who actually knows what they are doing they may be able to resurface them properly without killing them but in most cases they just cut the hell out of them which serves no purpose. as it seems the rotors used on dodge trucks are barely thick enough to do the job as it is with the number of warped rotor cases i see here so making them even thinner makes no sense. i used to get them cut all of the time as well but found no benefit in doing that. if the rotors are warped or gouged i just replace them since cutting them is not all that much less in cost and the thicker new rotors are safer anyway. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

nosey wrote if you had one before you know what to expect. you will most likely never break it. they are reliable. most of the people that even know what a differential is know about detroit lockers. if you are going to spend the money on a new differential you may as well get one. that noise is just a reminder of what you have. you will grow to love that sound just like the diesel engine clatter. ive never heard anyone complain about their turbo whistling too loudly either. dc even went as far as to put a turbo silencer easily removed on the intake inlet for some unknown reason. youre right. i got used to the sound when i can hear it over the loud pipes. the detroit truetrac is what i was thinking of getting but just understanding its usability such as getting my wife tounderstand to apply a little brake pedal to induce torque for it to lock up getting out of a snow pile may be an issue. back then i had no wife...girlfriend yes but that one understood muscle cars! - thats a big reason why im leaning to tbones recommendation for the auburn. ace .

the window sticker says semi floating rear 9 1/4 inch heavy duty rear axle. its on a 1997 ram maxi van 3500. does this require the posi lube additive from dodge thanks. semi-floating refers to the bearing configuration of the axles and iirc all 9 1/4 rears are of a semi-floating design. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

i have personally used the micro-mesh with great results. i recommend it but you will have to take some time and elbow grease to get them shining. that micro-mesh works on plastic car models or anything else that needs to be shined or scratches removed. would not recommend to use it on eye glasses watch crystals or window glass but works good on most everything else. bob g. wrote my wife drives a 96 grand caravan...which now has 160000 or so miles on it...van still runs just fine and looks fine....however the plastic headlight enclosers are now foggy and yellow... not nice and clear... just looks bad.. i think i would have to buy a new complete headlight assembly to fix them....not really sure ...but a quick search last evening showed these things cost more then 200 bucks. each... way too much to spend on a 9 yr old vehicle with all those miles... any solutions tried using nexus plastic polish..which is used to clear scratches in aircraft windshields etc...with little luck... thanks bob griffiths . had the same problem with my 96 ram diesel. my parts dude talked me into some head light resurfacer/restorer stuff made by symtech corp. cost $50 cdn. they say - 3 easy steps and less than 5 minutes to do. i agree with the 3 easy steps but more like 10-15 minutes a light. worked great they are now as clear as the side lights. they have a web site www.symtechcorp.net. the insides of the lights are good. good luck and no im not an agent or anything of the company just a retired diesel driver. ljb .

ive decided to just get it changed this friday. i bet i could probably wait longer and the oil doesnt look bad but better to take caution now rather than take a cab later when my car breaks down somewhere. i typically subscribe to the 3000 mile or 3 month schedule of changing the oil on my durango. however since my last oil change on feb. 2nd of this year ive only driven 2000 miles. most of those miles have come in the form of small trips. should i be looking to get another change soon or can i wait some more thanks. j .
