Q: hello im looking to buy a 2500 with the cummins engine and i was trying to get up in the 98-001 year range i was just given a bit of advice....i was told that trying to get a pre 1998 that was 12 valve was the way to go because the 24 valve is electronic and has all kinds of sensors to act up and also the 12 valve is much cheaper to repair. any insight and opinions would be helpful . im curious how they compare for power and reliability .

i do it that way to provide more emphasis. sorry it dosent meet with your approval... why dont you stop with the piddly crap and explain how this pickup truck weighs under 3000lbs tell us - what does it weigh and how did he get it to that weight tom this might be the same guy that was hanging a 9 fisher snow plow on a 1/2 ton truck. we will probably read next about a fiberglass nose and bed lexan and a dipped cab. roy .

thanks for the advice nosey. i had to buy an extension tonight to remove the d/s headlight assembly and while at autozone bought a set of night brites to replace the headlight bulbs. these are whiter that stock bulbs and i was suprised they were only 60/55 watts. oh yesthe d/s bulb was blown it was cloudy on the inside. no relay or wiring problem. ill bet when the guy put it in he touched my glass . hp hp wrote i have a 2004 dodge quadcab with hemi. i had a set of brighter headlights put in about a week ago. of course the drivers side one has either burnt out is defective or ive got some major problems. the high beams both work as does the passenger side low beam. these bulbs are 100w/85w blue type bulbs. i wanted to check the relays. where are they located theyre not in the fusebox near the battery i am going to go out now and try changing bulbs. i drive on regular roadsno off-roading if that helps. try putting the factory bulb back in the drivers side and see if it is still out. if you dont have the factory bulbs anymore swap the blue bulbs left to right and see if the problem goes to the passenger side. if it is a bulb problem you dont need to troubleshoot the relays. the blue bulbs that people buy to replace the factory white bulbs do not increase light output. the only reason people buy them is for looks. they look more like the super-expensive hid lighting systems found on high-end cars but they actually produce more glare and less usable light. if you are more concerned about the way the headlights look then use them. if you want to be able to see better get a good quality white replacement bulb like sylvania xtravision. .
