Q: as have i in fuel economy experimentation. my best is 41.25 mpg out of a 225 slant six in a 64 valiant about 2500 lbs curb weight. i know this is slightly off of the subject but did you see overhaulin last night they rebuilt a 71 challenger. it was awesome ... although im sure they didnt pay too much attention to the fuel economy ... ; you know budd im not going off on an anti-oil tyrade here. oil is a good thing ... being as dependent on it as we are is a bad thing. i *think* we agree on that yes we will probably not eliminate oil products in my lifetime or if i had children thank goodness i dont ... i have ex-wives instead their lifetimes as well. myself i dont from my spiritual viewpoints see this old world lasting long enough to run out of fossil fuels but i do see a future where all the areas that no one wants drilled are forested with derricks. ah ... this explains some of why we disagree. i too am driven to some degree on this subject by my beliefs. i believe that this earth is all we have and it is all we are going to have ... at least in my lifetime. therefore i am looking a little further ahead than you perhaps. not trying to get into a religious discussion here but i do have one question for you. assuming your beliefs are of christian origin ... there is a scripture that states and he will bring to ruin those ruining the earth. given that statement how do you reconcile the fact that we me and you are not doing everything we can to prevent air polution which is mostly caused by combustion automobiles and there will always be those that refuse to give up their 14 mpg pickup trucks 16 mpg suvs and so on. okay ... im not saying that they have to. i just wifh there were more choices. i believe that most people would choose the automobile that was better for the environment if it met their needs .. even if it were slightly more expensive. and no one wants to drill in their back yard even to this day. i beg to differ. people of middle eastern decent have no problem drilling that wasteland for $$. in fact they would likely disappear if they didnt. which that alone is a great reason to reduce our dependency ... if your claim of it being a defining part of the democratic party were true then why didnt johnson kennedy carter or clinton do more all of them promised the moon and even had a democrat controlled congress to back them up. from my perspective they didnt come close to any of their campaign promises . . which is why i left the dam-o-craps. none of the leaders did all they could. that is what sucks about american politics ... when you try to please everyone something is sacrificed. i wasnt around during johnsons years and i know very little about him. carter and clinton did more for teh enviroment than reagan daddy bush and baby bush combined. am i disappointed that the democrats dont do more yes i am. but i am happy that they do *something* because its more than the republicans do as a whole. you do know that originally the federal government was forbidden to levy any income tax right i have read some ... although i know little about it. one thing i know for sure ... they tax the shit out of me. its not okay. i never said it was. i would prefer not to drill here at all. now ... what point did i miss that everywhere is somebodys back yard whether here or alaska or overseas or where would the drilling be done if no one wanted it in their backyard i refer you to my comment above regarding the middle east. pockets a degradation of third world countries honestly does drilling degrade the middle east its already butt ugly and barren ... and those people dont give a rats behind about that land. au contraire mon amie. most of the worst pie-in-the-sky stuff comes from our very own epa. and theyve yet to figure out that the hole in the ozone at the south pole is a result of the angle the sunlight hits the atmosphere not greenhouse gasses that all the emission controls foisted on our vehicles has only nibbled a little off the emissions and not given the radical cleaning they want you to believe. gee i wonder if they ever got a true scientist on their panel yet. last time i checked it was all tree huggers with non-science doctorates. you may be right. i dont know the qualifications of those in charge at the epa. i have applied there and the experience and education you have to have to get into an entry level position is insane. i cant imagine that the leaders are too terribly uneducated. one thing is for sure the epa has helped more than they have harmed. so you or i cant get too upset ... with the majority of our colleges being quite liberal i am pleased to hear this. there are a few tree hugging sandle wearing animal right activists that teach. anyone too far to the right or to left wears me out. because my leb
