Here's the Symptoms, If Not Fuel Then?

Q: yes should have told you the upgraded tcm has fins along one of the long sides is there anyway to look at the module and tell if it the ql version or not this transmission was replaced around 1998. it would be my luck that the tcm was old stock without the ql. thanks ron transurgeon wrote all of the replacements have the ql i guess what you are saying is that the tcm transmission computer module doesnt fail but that the internal mechanical parts fail just like in the older transmissions. it was interesting to read about how it works. so replacing a tcm before a failure wont stop a failure. does this mean that if i replaced the computer with a new one it will have the quick-learn feature in it or is a pre-96 transmission stuck with using a pre-96 tcm thanks ron transurgeon wrote the reason that the transmission computer is always replaced when a transmission goes out is pre-96 tcms did not have the quick-learn feature re-using the old tcm you are stuck with the cvis that were in it when the transmission failed cvis can be thought of as the controller adapting to clutch wear this causes a severe bind-up on the 2-3 shift for the first 10-12 shifts until the cvis adapt to the new unit; so severe in some cases that it almost throws you into the steering wheel it is possible to rapidly reset them by doing full-bore 3-1 down-shifts about 5-6 times followed by 5-6 of 4-2 full-bore down shifts but until it adapts you are scorching clutches on every shift with the quick learn you hook up a scan tool tell it to learn it instructs you to put the shifter in gears in a sequence the tcm learns that it has a new set of clutches in the pack and re-sets itself ok i just got finished rebuilding my wifes 1989 voyager or at least the engine and front-end. the transmission had been replaced a few years ago. now my question is does the electronics fail first then takes out the rest of the transmission because it is trying for reverse and forward at the same time or does the transmission just fail like most of mechanical transmission from heat i does seem that the transmission computer is always replaced when a transmission goes out. i am questioning if i should replace the computer now and maybe save a transmission bill 3 or 4 years down the road. i live in nr country that is no rust not no rednecks so the rest of the van is in very good shape or i would have never taken this project on. thanks ron .

2000 1500 series quad cab where the passenger side mirror glass fell out. the replacement mirror has the glass attached to a plastic back where a circle of pins snap into the mirror housing. the circle of pins snaps line up with the housing except for three pins where there is no hole for them to fit so the mirror cant be installed. the guys at the dealership left me with too much doubt that they knew for sure what were talking about. they are assuming there is a collar that the mirror plugs into in turn the collar snaps into the housing. my questions are is there a collaradaptor for this mirror which of course the dealer doesnt sell so a complete mirror must be bought. did they originally give me a wrong mirror that had three extra pins that wont fit or is the mirror they sell a universal mirror that the different model vehicles may need some of the pins removed for it to snap into place. thanks for any help on the matter. -- lar to email....get rid of the bugs .

weird tx doesnt make me do emissions checks on my personal or company vehicle. where do you live all texas registered vehicles are required to receive an annual inspection. all inspections include a comprehensive safety inspection however some vehicles are required to have an emissions test in addition to the safety inspection. which vehicles are required to have the emissions test 1. vehicles registered in a designated county. designated counties include brazoria fort bend galveston harris montgomery collin dallas denton ellis johnson kaufman parker rockwall tarrant and el paso counties. beginning september 1 2005 travis and williamson counties. 2. gasoline powered vehicles. diesel powered vehicles are exempt from the emissions standards but are still required to have the annual safety inspection. 3. vehicles between 2 - 24 years old or upon expiration of the 2 year initial inspection sticker. el paso motorists are subject to two speed idle tsi testing. this type of test consists of a tailpipe test which test the levels of hc & co being emitted from the tailpipe. motorists in the houston/galveston dfw area are subject to obd and asm testing. if your vehicle is 1996 and newer then the vehicle is subject to obdii testing. vehicles 1995 and older are subject to asm testing. motorists in the travis/williamson county areas will be subject to obdii and tsi testing. if your vehicle is 1996 and newer then the vehicle is subject to obdii testing. vehicles 1995 and older are subject to tsi testing. .

customer. in this tome it specifically states that d/c is not liable for any aftermarket accessories sold by the dealership. iow they will not be held financially responsible and i already said that but the point is that they are still responsible for their own reputation and that comes from their dealer network. if they choose not to do so then they should expect to lose customers. perhaps that is why they could never get past #3 if they are still even that high. further the dealer agreement that every dealer must sign specifically exempts d/c from any liability due to an error by the dealership. once again this is a financial liability they are protecting themselves from and not the point of the argument. legal minds have worked these things out over many years! how is it then that your knowledge is superior to those who actually do this for a living lol i am still waiting for you to make a point about what i said or are you confused i said that a dealership is different than an independent because the dealership is connected to the manufacturer and the level of expectation of the customer will be higher at a dealership. this is the case whether you like it or not. just because you wish something is so doesnt make it so. now why dont you go buy that ferd youve been talking about and go annoy the snot of of that ng with your superior knowledge of the industry.... hmmmmmm even if i do buy a ford a much better looking truck i will not leave. you would all miss me far to much - -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

dale yonz wrote ok steve what would you put on your truck to protect it from stone chips like you got to have mud flaps so you have to drill a couple of holes to install them right. how about protecting the wheel well lips. do you leave the metal bare and use touch up the paint once in awhile for any chips im asking these questions because im going to get it painted and not putting anything back on. http//www.topoftheline.com/paintprotectiontape.html ive never seen this stuff just happened to have the site bookmarked. .

i mention it only because i had problem that came on fairly quickly and sounded similar to yours. the catalytic converter had plugged pretty severely. there are probably many other things that could cause similar symptoms. on 4 aug 2005 090605 -0700 martin funkychateauspam@yahoo.com wrote how do you recommend checking the converter btw this vehicle passed emissions testing for tx safety inspection at the end of july. engine didnt run rough during the test but if the converter were shot shouldnt it have failed the tailpipe test martin .

hi is it possible to change an engine from one model to an other. yes. just like its possible to turn your durango into a convertible. however i would recommend you attempt neither. trading in for a suitably-equipped vehicle will be much quicker easier and cheaper. .

i saw a dodge sprinter in my home town today!! i was coming out of the local coffee shop and the guy who owned it was taking stuff out of it. so i approached him and talked quite awhile abt it. man that things is cool!!!! id almost consider buying one and making it my only main vehicle here is link to a review on it http//tinyurl.com/34jbu anyone else have one have opinions on it outfit i used to work for runs them as company vehicles. lots of gear inside and ladder rack on the roof. huge pita to get the ladders off of them. parts are ridiculous in price. 1600 bucks for a front hub and brakes. the a/c is a joke. even with the work wall in them they barely keep the front cab cool. and noisy in the cab. ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-uncensored-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 120000+ groups ----= east and west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =---- .
