on sat 17 apr 2004 152843 gmt moparman im getting 14.5 on a 2003 2500hd. i have three fill-ups experience so far with my new 2004 2500 with 5spd standard. i agree with the 14.5 mpg for local driving. for the downhill part that is. unfortunatly some stupid law having to do with conservation of potential energy results in some uphill driving as well in order to complete a round trip and get back home. so getting back home drags it down to 13.5. probably the results will be better on the highway we will see. the engine is a big improvement in perfoprmance over my old 318 the price being 2 or 3 mpg in local driving. .

i have a 2003 1500 qc hemi with 13k miles. on the highway driving 65 i get 16mpg. to get that 19mpg that it has on the sticker i have to do 55. around town and only around town i can get 11+mpg. overall i get between 13 and 14 in mixed driving conditions. and that is driving with a light foot. there is no good milage to be found with this engine. on the good side it does perform. on sun 18 apr 2004 140619 gmt moparman scott.hendryx.clothes@sbcglobal.net wrote i consistently get 14.5 i drive like a rsfcking maniac most of the time. ive got 60k on my 2003 2500hd auto and its always gotten 14.5. i get 8 pulling my 5th wheeler which is really gonna suck this june when we go to grand island la. thats what we get pulling a tt with our 99 ram 360... 14 to 15 on a trip 8 towing... at least you have the extra power and torque with the hemi.. yeah i had a 2001 ram 1500 with a 360. thats about what i got too. my trailers too heavy and burnt the transmission up a coupla times. i like the hemi but with the way gas prices are going i wish i had gotton the ho. until i come up on a ford then im happy i got the hemi. .

@aol.com says... ot my kid 25 just bought a new f-150. i asked him what kind of mileage he was getting. i guess we had never touched on that topic as i spent the next 10 minutes trying to explain to him how to figure mpg. at one point he thought i meant to set the tripometer and drive it until he ran out of gas... lord baggy jeans a pierced ear and a crooked baseball cap...i was hoping against hope that he wasnt as stupid as he looks. but he holds a steady job how i will never know pays his bills at least the creditors arent calling and has never been arrested. i work with a lot of 20-25 year olds and some of them really scare me. some have some sort of clue and can function ok without help. others are not so lucky from not knowing how to cook anything that isnt microwavable to not knowing how to balance a checkbook/write a check etc. one guy asked me how to make hamburgers. i just stared at him i couldnt believe it. his mom/aunt/girlfriend always did the cooking all he knew how to do is nuke stuff in the microwave. i had to write it down and send it to him by email. then he writes back not knowing how to turn his oven on to toast the buns. then he calls me asking how to light his grill....then he had to get charcoal and lighter fluid and call me back. sheesh. now he writes/calls me for all his cooking questions. the latest one i shot tea out of my nose when i heard it was when he calls and says hey i want to make french fries how do i do it. i tell him to take the oil and put it in a frying pan etc. after i explain the whole thing he says i thought you just took them out of the bag i didnt think it was such a big deal. so i say huh you need help cooking frozen french fries then i laughed. he gets mad and i said to read the bag! he says he doesnt understand. i laughed again and asked him what didnt he understand. he says what the f is a cookie sheet after i explained it to him he sucessfully made them. his latest adventure is making *real* rice. he smoked the first load then made the second ok. but asked me questions the entire time. i told him to put a tablespoon of butter/margarine in it. he puts the phone down and leaves me hang there waiting and waiting. whenhe finally comes back i ask him where he went. he says he was measuring the butter. sigh. i explain he doesnt need to do that. he watched me make a bunch of stuff and i never used a measuring cup and he was stunned. he finally says if it doesnt matter how come they tell you a certain amount i said the amounts are approximate. something he has trouble understanding for some reason. one guy i work with cant cook cant add cant keep a checking account from going into the red drives badly cant write a decent sentence at all but the little doofus knows a hell of a lot about pcs. i think some of them will be ok as they age some will need to find a wife or hubby to nurse them through life. we know a guy whos wife died recently. hes 92 and doesnt know how to do anything. his daughter and daughter-in-law have to cook for him the vacuum cleaner is a total puzzle to him and he seems to think talking for more than 2 minutes on the phone will cost him something extra. hes a whiz in the garden but he has no other hobbies and hates the stuff he sees on the 5 stations he gets on his rabbit ears. he can keep his checkbook in order though. i had to explain the vaccuum cleaner to him one day when he dropped the sugar bowl and dumped the sugar all over the living room. he was going to make tea for his sister who was coming over hours later. he couldnt figure out how to even turn it on!! the bag scared him!! bdk .
