Hemi and Carb or FI??

From : dave i cant do that

Q: maxidyne wrote my son has a 2004 dodge with the 5.7 hemi engine. last week as he was driving the truck just quit. he had the truck towed to the dodge dealer and when they went to pulled the truck in the next day it fired right up. they could not find nothing wrong with the truck so he picked it up and it ran fine up til today when it quit in the middle of a hay field with a load of hay on it! when this happens the ignition goes totally dead and it wont do anything. the truck was bought used with 12000 miles on it. the battery and everything else is good. anybody else ran accros this problem you have a electroincs module that is failing when it gets hot or possible and connection pulling loose with heat in harness somewhere. i will bet you the its first owner had a simulair problem and got rid of it at 12000 miles out of frustration. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-big-dualley-hemi-dead-ftopict127342.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=621202 .

front of the engine about 1/3 of the way up the bell housing 3 15-mm-head bolts 2 on some models + a dowel pin instead of the middle one plus a 13 to get the big battery cable off and a slip-on connector for the solenoid a 15-minute job as always disconnect negative cable at battery first this is a double question where is the starter located on a 96 caravan how truly difficult is it to replace for your average backyard mechanic any helpful ideas are always appreciated!! gerry .

on sun 03 jul 2005 224132 -0700 the real bev bashley@myrealbox.com wrote snoman wrote the real bev wrote it takes a couple of hours in fact. it also seems to require 2 quarts more than the 318 in our 1968 van too. dealer said huh jiffy-lube guy who seemed to know what he was doing said hed never seen a slow drainer. any ideas/explanations this should be easy to figure out. stick a pencil or the like up through drain plug hole and i will bet you you find pan it loaded up with sludge blocking drain hole. thats interesting. it had never occurred to me that it might be crud blocking the hole. ill check next time. i had that experience many years ago. i had bought a well used 6 cyl flat head chysler and when i removed the oil pan plug nothing came out untl ran a screwdrive inot the hole to open it up. my next chore was to remove the pan and clean it out. oldtimer .

hi people i have a 1995 1500 with the 360 and auto. it has around 120k on it and i want to freshen up the performance a little so i am thinking of a dropping in a crate hemi from jegs. transmission wont bolt up if its a real hemi 426 ill add headers and it already has a good free flow catback on it with edelbrock muffler. yeah thatll make it breathe well............ i am thinking of doing away with the fi and dropping a street-demon carb on it. not for any particular reason other than i am an old-school guy and i like to see a carb not to mention less stuff to f-up. youll f*ck it up worse by causing codes out the arse; whats to screw up with an fi set-up and do you have emissions testing if so youre really screwed i had thought of some rpm performer heads cam roller rockers and other stuff but it fast approached the cost of the crate. any idea on whether the hemi will drop in comfortably nope it wont this is one of those sounds good on a bar-stool. but the reality is a bitch type of projects thanks in advance. dave .
