Q: maxed out doubtful but who knows. thing is that you could take some of the approx 15k that you saved in buying a lightning mod it a bit match the srt10 performance and still have a bunch of the 15k leftover. i think that you are dreaming now roy. how so this engine is already fairly well maxed out already. to get another 100 or so hp out of it and have it actually hold up and behave like a daily driver is not gonna come cheep if at all and then there is the rest of the drive train to consider. also youd still have a truck that you can tow with and load in other words it would still be useful as a truck. i doubt that. if you up the hp of the lightning to that of the ram srt10 and still keep it streetable and then try to tow or haul with it you are probably going to break something. please explain. in order to keep costs reasonable i doubt that there is much over design in the current lightning. if you crank up that engine another 100 or so hp you may push it past its long term endurance capabilities or over stress its transmission and rear axle. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

i have the same truck and i tow everything from my bumper from a jet ski to a car hauler pulling a 73 ford 150. the dealers are full of it. my advice is to get the under the bumper tow hitch dodge sells makes it easier to turn with a trailer on it does anybody have any experience towing off the bumper of a ram 1500 i have an 03 2wd quad cab and have heard differing opinions. one is you can tow up to i think it is 6000 #s off the bumper but then the dealer told me i couldnt tow anything with brakes off the bumper. but who in their right mind would tow 6000 #s without brakes i am towing an 1800 # trailer empty about 4000#s loaded up and it has the inertia brakes or whatever the hydraulic things built into it. does anybody have any experience with this dan www.howlingmotorsports.com .

roy wrote okay genius here ya go. the srt 10 at $45k is 13.5-13.8 so says dc. but for the sake of this exercise lets call it 13.00. now all along ive been saying that for around or under $5k a lightning at $30k could be made quicker than the srt10. oh also be used as a truck ie pull 5klbs and ya can put 1/2 ton in the bed. how about 12.1 with a filter chip lower pulley water pump and elec. fan. and a shift kit octane boost no bottle. the guy didnt spend 3k. now i suppose youll do your usually bs prove it and your usual rant but you might want to go to www.nloc.net go to the forums scroll to times and modifications. then perhaps you will learn what a bunch of use have learned it takes a little thought and the right mods and ya can grab easily 1-2sec or more from stock.without spending a fortune if you know what the engine responds to. hi performance requires a whole new set of books tom. better start reading. now i have another a question for you tom. why cant you put a 1/2ton in the bed or tow with the srt10 without screwing the warranty it is marketed as a 1/2 ton truck isnt it or is the truck designation more marketing bs like the new hemi. maybe ford should put a bed on the gt and call it a truck too.bfg whats the matter with you roy dont you know by now t
