Help, please: no power to 12v outlets

Q: thanks for all the replies to my previous message. ive been considering a 3/4 ton pu. dodge w/cummins being the #1 choice right now. local dealer doesnt seem to have any 2006 four door quad cab laramie my desired choice 2500 2wd cummins left. but he does have two laramie cummins quad cab 3500s in colors i could live with. both are priced right at 34.5k. im looking for something to tow a 25 to 30 airstream trailer. tow weight on the as is in the 8 to 10k range. would i be making a mistake to upgrade to a 3500 just because the dealer seems to have a couple left that are a good deal i drove the 3500 and it still drives better than the competitions 250 and 2500s. does 34.5k seem like a pretty decent deal on a 2006 four door quad cab 3500 laramie cummins any knocks on the 2006 model year somewhere i had the impression dodge was switching over to a larger cummins dsl maybe a 6.7l around the first of the year. around here the word seem to be the switch will be some undetermined time in the future. what the scoop on the 6.7l thanks for any input. springing for a 30k plus us pickup is something i never thought id be contemplating but you have to let your prejudices go sometimes. bb .

on oct 21 149 pm mike simmons mike...@yhti.net wrote a boost gauge is useful to help drive for fuel economy and also to monitor the turbos output. if you can drive and keep your boost pressure 10psi you will be driving for max economy. should your boost plumbing or intercooler develop a leak the boost gauge will show a loss of pressure compared to what the nomral boost pressure should be. the boost gauge would be more useful than a fuel pressure gauge imho... different strokes i guess...... you know after thinking about it you bring up a good point. i have noticed over the past year a strange noise that comes from what i *think* is my turbo. it use to only do it when it was cold outside but now it does it all of the time. when i accelerate faster than usual rpms at say 2500+ the turbo stops whining and starts whistling. when i say whistle ... i mean it sounds like a human whistling. other than the possibility of a happy person stuck under my hood could i have a pin hole somewhere that cuases this or ... is this simply a normal sound craig c. .

i think i see where roy is going....did you try the frig plug in each of the 3 outlets try a different item...like the lighter. ive seen some plugs that have a fuse inside the plug....maybe thats it. -- ------------------------------------------ laszlo almasi ----cool toys formerly carolina watercraft works ----mack daddy trailers ----ice angels 2001 dakota 4.7l v8 4x4. recently i replaced the ignition switch... last time id used my in-truck fridge and thus a power outlet was before this replacement. noticed today that all three 12v power outlets are not working. tried replacing the fuse #17 i think didnt work. what else could be causing these outlets to not work everything else on the truck is working fine. where should i check to determine what the problem is thanks for any help. no cold sodas for todays trip alas! jmc does the cig lighter work roy .

i have a 1996 ram 1500 4x2 with a 5.2 and auto trans. i have been getting error 43 a couple of time now. both times my low fuel light was on not sure if that has anything to do with it. i replaced the coil and checked the coil wires as per dodgeram.org error page. i really could not see anything wrong with the wires so i replaced the coil probably a waste of money. does any one have any ideas on this problem thanks dmso .

makes sense. thanks mike. all this time i thought a boost gauge was simply so one could watch the needle go back and forth ... - i always thought it was like the game at the carnival with the hammer smashing the lever that sends the weight up and hits the bell... try and get the needle as high as it will go. im up to 60 havent seen any pics of your toy recently. please post a couple. roy .

bump. tom or anyone else ... rail pressure gives me more useful/practical information for a stock setup or ... again just looking to fill the 3rd gauge hole with the most practical gauge ... mike mentioned a turbo boost gauge but i cant think of why that is something that should be watched ... like a pyro and tranny temp. craig c. on oct 20 1126 am craig c. mcraig...@gmail.com wrote tom lawrence wrote should i go with a fuel psi gauge or a rail pressure gauge lets take a step back... whats the reason for gauges are you modifying the truck keeping it stock but planning on towing heavy or just want to know whats going on under the hoodi plan to keep everything stock. i do pull lake toys although what i currently pull is not heavy 5000 lbs. a travel trailer is in the future but i have no idea what i want or how much it will weigh. really my reason in wanting the gauges is simply to monitor things before they become huge issues. i.e. the fuel pressure discussion of recent and past made me believe that i needed to monitor it so that i can head off any major headaches replacement of the injector pump. did i misunderstand my truck does *not* have the lift pump issues tranny temp and pyro are really for towing i know. those will be used more and more as time goes on. i guess i assumed perhaps ignorantly that a fuel pressure gauge is necessary. at this point assuming my truck does not have lift pump problems im really just looking to fill the third gauge hole. 1 tranny temp 2 pyro and 3 . craig c. -- facts fakts -noun the pesky things that get in the way of religious doctrine. .
