Heat guage going wacky???

Q: 95 ram van 5.2l v8. always has had the guage running right in the middle of the scale. last couple of days it barely moves up into the normal range. coolant level is ok no other operational problems. probably unrelated but i had let it sit for several days with the radar detector and gps running which ran the battery down. i had to charge the battery and at that time i noticed the guage was acting funny. any cause for concern .
