says... i am considering purchasing this lift kit for my 1980 ramcharger. snip what else will i need these kits are usually pretty complete. since you will raise the center of gravity you may want to consider heavier sway bars front and rear. i am concerned about steering arms reaching. thats what the steering block is for. recommended on any lift over 2 to line things up. they should give you longer bolts or studs with it which you didnt mention but are probably in the kit. you may want to check. will this be too much angle for my u-joints theres a good reason for the popularity of body lift kits. the rear will probably be okay but the short front shaft experiences a large change in angle the increased angle puts more stress on u-joints and when combined with higher torque load due to oversize tires which is usually the reason for the lift yeah it could be a problem. generally over 2 on the front is asking for trouble. if you have the double-joint shaft you may get away with it. or you may find yourself on the specialty driveshaft welders doorstep with a handful of broken iron saying can you help me out. he smiles and says yes ive seen these before and the gleam in his eye portends a significant transfer of funds... .

dumbneasy wrote i have a full-time four wheel drive vehicle. ive got a 2500 mile trip coming up. would i....could i......disconnect my front wheel drive line safely and improve my gas milage at all now if youre thining what a stupid question this is.....just look at my screen name.... if i knew the answer to this question i wouldnt ask....and id also change my screen name to something with smart in it. tia if its full time 4wd then you can not disconnect the front wheels. its a different transfercase that acts like a third differential. removing the front drive shaft in order to disengage the front wheels will then open one end of the diff and you will not move at all. just put an extra 5 pounds in the tires and keep it under 70 and the mpg should not be too horrific. .

would a guy named dumbneasy know that sheeeeeeeesh! nope...i didnt know that and i aint got no solenoids! i got high-low-nuetral. and in neutral nothing goes anywhere. ps-s-st....77 dodge but dont tell! you should also have hi-loc and lo-loc positions on that old transfer case also. in this case you could set it to hi-loc and remove the front driveshaft to make it do what you want. but it still wont help your mileage much if any. been there and done that. g denny hey rabbit! did ya get the email a couple of days ago roy .

from some of the stuff i have read online and things i have heard from owners the new hemi is a disappointment. many problems in the valvetrain and transmission problems as well. hum ive had mine since they came out with it and now have 75000 miles on it. i have no problems i do have a small ticking noise its the a/c compressor. it sounds just like my cheby and ford did too. -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- .

on 09 sep 2004 050033 gmt mopar440@aol.comnet.org redneck tookover hell wrote assuming you combine this with the trailer i predict the steering effort to keep it straight will tire you out wind gusts may scare you. you ever hear of something called a weight distributing hitch put a good amount of ballast in the bed and some stiff 10-ply tires pumped up to 45 lbs more weight on the rear of the truck that should really screw up things and 10 ply tires pumped up all the way to 45 lbs this some secret combination maybe 75 with 10 ply tires your recommendations scare me i hauled a maxed 10k implement trailer 6 8x8x16 3 8x8x30 square steel beams and 4 4x8x26 i-beams on a 1000mi haul. the trailer had 4 10ply tires w/80lbs per side wall for max load capacity. with this long load i carried close to a thousand lbs in truck bed which helped keep the rear tires from sliding when breaking and maneuvering. i also have 2 friction sway control devices. i built my own hitch which is slightly over built to handle this sort of abuse. the vehicle has manual trans 4.11s and 350hp/500lbs torque gas. coming back with 69 bales of hay was much easer shorter moment but still exciting in the mountains. john deere crawler w/loader a little lighter but shorter moment much easer pull and every bit the same excitement down the mountains. ive had this truck since 1971 and it is highly modified. i prefer electric brakes which allow total control. serge brakes can be cause for overheated brakes on a long downgrade. imho on the level driving the speed limit wont be to hard on your vehicle. the hills are what are hard on the vehicle. id think with your diff ratio and auto trans dont use overdrive and just take yer time. dont try to keep up with the sedans and semis. on the uphill pull dont floor the accelerator drop to a lower gear with the shifter and back off the pedal a bit and the engine will be happyer. kend .

it is programmed into the computer to light up at designated emission control check intervals........a real pain. and there is no way to turn it off i even tried disconnecting the battery for 24 hours to fool the computer. you have to take it to the dealer to have it turned off. i took it the dealer the first time and was charged $50.00 just to have it re-set. mine came on again around 60000 miles and its still on.........@130000 miles. if you let your windshield washer low reservoir light come on its kind of a nice yellow/red contrast especially at night. i keep my 92 dakota well maintained and tuned up. pcvs filters regular oil changes egr and o2 sensor at 90000 mile and it still runs like a new one. jimbob have a 1992 dodge dakotacan anyone tell me what the maint reqd lite on the dash meansit just came on is there a way to turn it off thanks have no manual and service manuals are gone in our area. thanks jack .

says... we are thinking of getting a new dakota quad with the 4.7 v8 apparently good engine with adequate power for the job. hasnt been around long enough to prove itself in the long-term durability department. i miss the 318. 5 speed auto tranny a bit soft for towing imo. probably okay for occaisional use. find out if the hd cooling package includes a trans cooler. if not add one. and 3.91 rear end. yes definitely. and consider the anti-spin option. mostly for solo driving but also to tow our 23 trailer that weighs in around 3500 lbs wet and has a gvwr of 5000lbs. okay for an infrequent short jaunt to koa a bit heavy to do on a regular basis or long haul. some times we take long trips like from bc canada to louisianna or southern california. assuming you combine this with the trailer i predict the steering effort to keep it straight will tire you out wind gusts may scare you. put a good amount of ballast in the bed and some stiff 10-ply tires pumped up to 45 lbs id say maybe... better yet consider a bigger truck preferrably a dualie. the extra weight and tire sidewalls greatly improve lateral stability and by inference safety. .
