Q: hboothe@gte.net says... hey bdk you mention one or more problems and i might be able to help but id like to narrow the problems down first. when you say the viper has suddenly died do you mean it no longer remote starts at all or do you mean the second problem you mention that the blower fails to run the odd idiot lights you got; were they while it was remote started or when you started the truck with the key just like it didnt have the remote start in the truck post back and ill see if i can help. --hc well it looks like the brain of the remote starter died again. it always starts fine but theres no blower. i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else a this is the second time in less than a year.. sorry if i was confusing.. i was very sleepy when i typed it.. bdk had mine for 3 years and it has never failed other than a battery in the fob. dave .

thanks ill check into those - id really like a regular owners manual little glove box kind but on ebay theyre twenty bucks or so! just kind of convienient to have something with service station specs fuse locations etc in the vehicle but not twenty bucks worth! haynes isnt too bad on this one but i find weve got two dakotas that theres either a lot of varition between them or mine have benefited from a little um retrofitting since its inception... cricket hi cricket did a little looking around for some stuff --- heres some info you might be able to use. http//www.allpar.com/resources.html has the following link if your manual is out of print try moparmanuals. http//www.moparmanuals.com/mopar/main/products.asp they have high-quality 1914-1989 factory service manuals and parts books on cd-rom including a clever front end to help you find what you need. you can get 10% off if use coupon code 255727. they are authorized by chrysler. following the link i found 1987 dodge rwd dakota truck service manual #81-370-6010 near the bottom and they want $65.00 for the puppy. its pricy but if you do a lot of work yourself this cd might be something to buy. i have not found anything in print though. best of success!! richard/ .

id eyeball the relays that power the auxilliary power and the fuses that supply them. fwiw in my 02 2500 old body style there are two pink wires pink and pink/white that go hot in the run position iirc. there are two wires from the relay pack on the viper that go hot in auto start for auxilliary circuits. if the monkeys who hooked the system up used just one of the vipers supply wires to heat up both of the factory aux wires it could over-stress the viper relay pack and cause it to fail. or if they hooked it up that way it could cause the fuses on the supply from 12v+ to the relay pack to fail. id look at all the fuses on the vehicle and the viper system including all wiring harnesses which should be in a single location i imagine for blown fuses. then if its anything like my 791xv itll have a relay pack basically a long slender black thingy with about 8 or 10 heavy-gauge wires coming from it and id look to it for damage. having the system run the engine but not actually blow the air cold or hot as you choose into the cab is silly thats half the reason for having remote start i think and since this isnt the first time this has happened to you id be wary of the installation. closely checking the installation and maybe finding the problem yourself will help you save time and money in the future i would think. good luck. let us know where that leaves you. --hc i was having a bad day. a man said to me cheer up things could be worse!. so i cheered up and sure enough things got worse. .
