Had to get new keys cut
From : yonzie
Q: thurs morning tried starting 03 diesel would turn over but not start tried again she started but ran for 1 second and shutoff. the security light by the temp guage is just a flashing. tried a few times again finally she started. drove the truck out of the shop was seeding that day and had bags of canola to be unloaded. shut the truck off and she would not start. either she turns over or runs for 1 sec and shuts off. had it towed in to dealership next day they phoned and said truck always started for them. yesterday morning was able to catch a ride to town to get the truck. pick it up and then i drive to an implement dealer to get some parts. get back to the truck and same damn thing wouldnt start. phoned dodge service said wait for 10 minutes and try again. they thought my command start whatever was giving trouble. luck out the truck started drove it to the guy who installed the ultrastart. truck was acting up there but yet using the remote start she started. he said something has to be wrong with the ignition keys i had both of them with me. go back to dodge they cut me two new keys the service rep hooks up the computer to enter the codes or whatever. so far truck has been starting any ideas why the chip in the keys woulld cause this problem next time if she acts up will disconnect the ultrastart. dale .

try using just the ignition key for driving .. could also be the weight of your keychain. thurs morning tried starting 03 diesel would turn over but not start tried again she started but ran for 1 second and shutoff. the security light by the temp guage is just a flashing. tried a few times again finally she started. drove the truck out of the shop was seeding that day and had bags of canola to be unloaded. shut the truck off and she would not start. either she turns over or runs for 1 sec and shuts off. had it towed in to dealership next day they phoned and said truck always started for them. yesterday morning was able to catch a ride to town to get the truck. pick it up and then i drive to an implement dealer to get some parts. get back to the truck and same damn thing wouldnt start. phoned dodge service said wait for 10 minutes and try again. they thought my command start whatever was giving trouble. luck out the truck started drove it to the guy who installed the ultrastart. truck was acting up there but yet using the remote start she started. he said something has to be wrong with the ignition keys i had both of them with me. go back to dodge they cut me two new keys the service rep hooks up the computer to enter the codes or whatever. so far truck has been starting any ideas why the chip in the keys woulld cause this problem next time if she acts up will disconnect the ultrastart. dale .

yonzie do you have another chipped key adjacent to the ram key on your keyring how bout a speedpass both of those will cause the problem you are experiencing. mike thurs morning tried starting 03 diesel would turn over but not start tried again she started but ran for 1 second and shutoff. the security light by the temp guage is just a flashing. tried a few times again finally she started. drove the truck out of the shop was seeding that day and had bags of canola to be unloaded. shut the truck off and she would not start. either she turns over or runs for 1 sec and shuts off. had it towed in to dealership next day they phoned and said truck always started for them. yesterday morning was able to catch a ride to town to get the truck. pick it up and then i drive to an implement dealer to get some parts. get back to the truck and same damn thing wouldnt start. phoned dodge service said wait for 10 minutes and try again. they thought my command start whatever was giving trouble. luck out the truck started drove it to the guy who installed the ultrastart. truck was acting up there but yet using the remote start she started. he said something has to be wrong with the ignition keys i had both of them with me. go back to dodge they cut me two new keys the service rep hooks up the computer to enter the codes or whatever. so far truck has been starting any ideas why the chip in the keys woulld cause this problem next time if she acts up will disconnect the ultrastart. dale .

i had the rear end serviced a couple weeks back and it seemed to me that there where an awful lot of metal shavings stuck to the magnet. before i go off the deep end worrying about whether its going to fail i though id ask around. without having a picture of what i saw i know its going to be hard to quantify what a lot is. the magnet was completely covered with slivers. best i can remember the wear pattern looked normal and there werent any pits or chips in the gears. thanks .

how many miles on your vehicle is this the first diff service if not how many miles since the last service it is normal to have some metal particles not slivers! stuck to the magnet. how much depends on the above three questions. without knowing the answers to the above i suspect that if the quantity is less than about a quarter of a thimbleful you are ok. chryco service manager member sae i had the rear end serviced a couple weeks back and it seemed to me that there where an awful lot of metal shavings stuck to the magnet. before i go off the deep end worrying about whether its going to fail i though id ask around. without having a picture of what i saw i know its going to be hard to quantify what a lot is. the magnet was completely covered with slivers. best i can remember the wear pattern looked normal and there werent any pits or chips in the gears. thanks .

i know its going to be hard to quantify what a lot is. the magnet was completely covered with slivers. what mike said. if its a silver paste resembling anti-sieze thats fine. if you can actually see individual metal slivers thats bad. .
