tom if you are the second owner you must get a form from your local dealer . fill that in and send it to chrysler with a $100 to extend the warranty. please note that it must be done within 30 days of the purchase. if you are not the 2nd owner or the sales date is longer than 30 days ago you are not eligable. steve .... i just bought a used 2003 dakota quad cab with 24000 miles on it. do i need to do anything special to be sure to get the 7 year/ 70000 extended drivetrain warranty tia tom steve i dont see anything in the warranty book that says anything about the extended warranty being limited to the second owner. but it may be in there somewhere. the carfax report says im either the 3rd or 4th owner 4 if you count the dealer i bought it from. carfax says it qualifies for the 7/70000 but dont say how to get it. guess i better call the dealer. thanks for your help. tom .

i recently ordered http//img185.echo.cx/img185/3082/trailer7rj.jpg a 7x18 haulmark kodiak http//www.haulmark.com/php/products/submodel.view.phpsubmodelid=70117 with hydraulic brakes. i prefered the hydraulic to electric because electric leaves a lot to human error....not enough adjustment and you put premature wear on your truck brakes....to much brake and you put premature wear on your trailer brakes. based on the gvwr of the trailer 10400 pounds i had several friends insist that i drop the hydraulic surge brakes in favor of electric brakes and i was able to make the change before the trailer was built. now that im going with electric brakes i need to shop around for an electric brake controller. id like to find one that is intelligent....something that will automatically adjust the amount of braking on demand if such a creature exists at a reasonable cost. since my wife knows nothing about trailer brakes i need something that can do the thinking for her so that she can just hook up and drive. im seeking recommendations for a controller and the reasons why your recommendations are better than the other guys recommendations. thanks! -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

aaron dont know how related this would be but chevrolet had problems with a drive line klunk on decel a while back. they suggested it being because of drive line wind up due to the slip yoke not slipping on the trans output shaft. they suggested using a special lubricant and lubricating the drive shaft slip yoke. dont know what kind of lube it was other than it was special my 01 r/t with the automatic does the same thing when i let off the gas and start decelerating with out the brake. it has done it since the 1st day i drove it off the lot. it sounds like a bad u-joint but the u-joins are fine and my rear has been checked 5 times because of it.. we finally gave up trying to figure out exactly what it is. i took it to 3 different dealers. half the time they could never replicate the problem. the 3rd time they took apart the diff and every thing seemed to look just fine but the noise continued every once in a while maybe once a day. lately i have started to think it might just be the tail gate moving... if you find out let us know.. -aaron i recently bought a 2001 dakota v-6 with 5-speed manual transmission. this is the 1st manual tranny ive had in about 10 years. heres the problem when i let the clutch out i sometimes hear a single klunk coming from somewhere in the drivetrain. it is most noticeable when letting the clutch out when making a turn. i took it back to the dealer and they said is was the backlash in the rearend and it was normal. and that it would stop occuring when i get better at using the clutch. is the dealer right does anyone else have this problem .

jeep wrote while driving my 1999 dakotathe brake and abs light came on. checked level of brake fluid..ok. firm brake pedal then my speedometer worked intermittantly.here do i start to look for this problem are they related 82k miles well kept no prior problems whats the cause im guessing its a bad vehicle speed sensor vss. i would guess the rear wheel speed sensor in the rear axle .

ron wrote any one have any experience using yokohama tires specifically the geolander at+ iis im looking to get a new set for my 96 ram cc 5.9l 4x2. i do mostly on road driving but like the option of a/t tires when it snows or if i have to go off the road. i am currently running on a set of cooper vipers that served me very well over the last 50k miles and it turns out they are no longer made. i like the wranglers by goodyear but they typically wear out fast in my own experience i had eagles on a car and they wore down quickly and the wranger rt/s on the ram wore down in about 40k. the cooper vipers were great better ratings then the goodyears and looked better too. what kind of tires have you been riding on. i would stay with a us made tire if it were me. sooner or later we will all regret the money we sent overseas when our jobs and country disappear. mike good gawd you protectionist yanks dont want to buy anything that isnt merican made but you expect the rest of the world to buy your products get a grip. ron itas just an opinion man. you get over it. jeff .

roy if you are using windows xp you should be able to right click on the folder and then click on send to and send it to your cd burner. you should also be able to drag the folder that has the pictures in it to your cd burner software. tom took some pics of the construction we did here a few years ago and the wife put them in a folder. now i want to put them on a cd so i will have a hard copy of them in case this machine goes south. what is the procedure roy .

do it the easy way - while the brakes are still connected. whats difficult about sticking a screwdriver in the rotor using the brakes requires two people... and sometimes its tough to generate enough brake pressure to hold back against the torque necessary to break that nut free. or the easier way yeah - just throw caution to the wind... trust me ive done this plenty of times - and the screwdriver in the rotor has yet to fail... .
