budd cochran wrote you get a 239 cubic inch v-6 in a 4000+ pound vehicle and you want it to do 0-60 in less than a heartbeat . . . easy fill the back end with nitroglycerine and slam the liftgate. i find myself wondering which is the more stupid you for buying an underpowered for your needs apparently vehicle or me for wanting to ask you what the heck were you thinking for not considering it could be underpowered for what you need it to do. you might look for a better computer chip a some kind of supercharger there was one advertised in the group the other day or a vehicle with the engine you really need in it. so the cummins owners cant be too bright either. theyre always looking for more they should have bought 5-ton trucks. why i can get a hell of a lot more out of mine. do you have any idea how detuned these engines are apparently not. roy .

youre not the best mechanic in the universe are you any of the heavy fuels kerosene diesel jet fuel etc require either a very low compression ratio under 71 i would suggest or very high 141 or higher and use compression ignition. briggs stratton made dual fuel engines and may still that started on gasoline and switched to kerosene when warmed up but the average cr on a briggs is only about 61. those engines also lose about half their power on the heavy fuel. -- budd cochran john 316-17 ephesians 28-9 romans 323 623 our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. it is wholly inadequate for the government of any other. john adams sure you can. youd need about half gasoline to get it started and it would not run very well when its cold. ive also heard of using a dual tank system and use kerosene after the motor is warmed up. worked on old farm equipment but not sure modern vehicles would put up with that. -- christopher a. young you cant shout down a troll. you have to starve them. . is it possible to put a diesel engine into 1976 dodge sportsman van has anyone heard of someone doing it thanks! john -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com .

tom another question i thought to ask after i made the previous post. did you remove your turbo prior to drilling and tapping for the pyro or did you use the grease on the drill bit trick ive actually been leaning toward removing the turbo and placing it off to the side leaving the oil line intact. the only potential problem with that is that i dont have another turbo flange gasket which may not be an issue since the truck is only 3 months old. later kevin. kevin i cant speak for tom but when i drilled mine i greased the drill bit and then the tap. after tapping i took a small pencil magnet and stuck it down the hole several times until no shavings came back out then hooked the shop vac to the hole for a few seconds. i seriously doubt that there were any particles left that amounted to much. mike .
