Gas tank vent?

Q: i cant recommend anybody but dont forget youre going to have to change the carrier in the front diff also. it is a different offset from the 3.55 to the 3.92. the rear uses the same carrier for both ratios. denny i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good massachusetts installer for upgrading my differential gearing going from 3.55 to 3.92. i seem to be having trouble locating a shop that specializes in drivetrain type of work. thanks erik .

i guess i didnt understand what you said. why do you put it in neutral to start the car because the 47rh/re transmissions didnt circulate fluid in park and if the vehicle has sat for a length of time the converter wont be full of fluid causing the first few seconds of driving to be very sluggish-like. running the transmission in neutral fills the converter up. oh and never refer to a truck as a car unless it has leather bg denny .

i wouldnt even consider buying a 2wd truck but my needs arent the same as others. it was a good point you made to erik but since he didnt mention it being a 4x4 in the original post i thought i missed one. denny wrote all real trucks have a front differential. did i miss something bg denny i assumed it was 2wd. did i miss something denny wrote i cant recommend anybody but dont forget youre going to have to change the carrier in the front diff also. it is a different offset from the 3.55 to the 3.92. the rear uses the same carrier for both ratios. denny i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good massachusetts installer for upgrading my differential gearing going from 3.55 to 3.92. i seem to be having trouble locating a shop that specializes in drivetrain type of work. thanks erik .

the lsd used in the new trucks doesnt use clutch packs like the older lsds. instead it uses a combination of pinion gears and brakes to provide torque bias. unfortunately the amount of bias supplied is less than the previous design. similar in operation if not design to the torensen differentials used in the hummers no not the cheap plastic pos gm thing - the original am general hummer when the difference in traction between the two wheels is too great its necessary to apply some drag on the low-traction wheel to help the lsd out. in my experience i dont have to apply the e-brake. since i have an automatic as do you i use light throttle pressure combined with light brake pressure service brakes not the e-brake to get the lsd engaged then i nail the throttle take my foot off the brake and both wheels will be turning. i suspect the dealerships tell the customers to set the e-brake for a couple of reasons 1. its easier to explain and easier to do than the above procedure 2. brakes are only covered under warranty for 12000 miles .
