Q: subject re 96 dodge van problems from derrik dharenal@ucdavis.edu date 9/25/2003 134 am central standard time message-id 3f728c90.b6be5a2d@ucdavis.edu umm try the fuel filter then the pump gary glaenzer wrote fuel pump hi guys ive been handed a problem child a 96 dodge van v6 3 speed auto. the owner has already run through the gamut of replace parts and cross fingers routine. here are the symptoms as described to me. runs okay until it warms up then dies. restart after it cools and repeat. they tell me it mostly happens when its under 1/4 tank of fuel but not necessarily. when it dies they tell me it pops through the throttle body i havent driven it yet cant confirm the description. what theyve done 1. full tune up new plugs wires cap and rotor 2. pulled all six injectors and cleaned them all 3. cleaned fuel rail had some rust / gunk in it 4. cleaned throttle body looks real nice! what ive done 1. checked fuel pressure reads 4045 psi at idle drops to 30 when reved up 2. checked the key codes got 21 27 three times! three injectors i was really thinking fuel pump and or relay but the pressure test seems to shoot that idea dead. maybe three bad injectors cutting off the fuel would mimic a bad fuel pump dunno obviously got some more work / diagnosis ahead of me. anybody had any similar problems insights thanks robert -- derrik arenal operator ucdavis campus data center it would appear at least at first glance that the fuel pump has fixed the problem. as soon as i get it all repaired from the fire well give it a good shakedown run... robert .

weisserer wrote here is the list of things gone bad on my dodge 98 4x4 club cab 5.2l exhaust system rotted out at 40k mine is still original @ 97k miles. front wheel bearings at 50k all original still. on its third set of front brakes and rotors recent change to 3rd set of front brake pads. second right rotor. 2nd set of rear breaks original rear brakes. rear end bearings fell appart at 60k originals. intake gasket failed twice so far oil usage and pinging original. no oil level decrease in 3000 mile oil changes. never a ping 87 octane. had a leak on passenger floor antenna grommet popped out slef fix dealer was stumped imagine that no leaks. check engine light came on at 60k dealer said bosch plugs no good. replaced with oem rotor wires and cap/plugs no check lights. spark plugs changed twice with champion truck plugs. new wires 5k miles ago on my own initiative. on its third distributor cap. note oem wires #5 cylinder wire short. tail gate latch hung up.. replaced latch assy. replaced left tailgate wire. i often attach dog leash rope to gate pin and then absent mindedly close the gate causing the wire to bend. it finally unraveled the wire strands. front shocks replaced at 24k warranty these failed at 50k.. then again at 60k on fourth set of front shocks.. original shocks and springs. a bit soft now but not bad enough to warrant new ones. other than that great truck.. luck of the draw i guess. you drew a troublesome one while i got a good one. probably same possibilities with any other brand id guess. dodge auto trannys are supposed to be trouble yet my mothers buick lesabre just trashed its auto trans at 30k miles! go figure. smh .
