Q: unlike others in here i am not blaming the president for everything that went wrong. i would agree that the mayor and the governor have the most blame on them but either way this took way to long. and yet youve offered no concrete factual ways that it could have been. that is because it is impossible to do in a concrete way and you know that. you speak of different ways to mobilize but none are practical. you figure the ng should have been mobilized prior o the storm but you dont have a clue where they would be needed most or safest in assembling. they are part of the military their complete safety is not the issue and it takes little time to shift or deploy to a different location once assembled. even if you did you forget that they too deserve the chance to help protect their own families through the worst of the storm. once again they are in the military and there families have to come second and as i have said before and you ignored their families should have been evacuated prior to the storm. then when confronted with the facts you claim it was too slow. when asked to provide one example of a disaster where response time was faster you have none. when shown that aircraft were rescuing people within 24 hrs you claim the focus of their activities is misguided nevermind what the aircraft are equipped to do. hint the dauphine cannot haul massive supplies as its too light an aircraft. you are correct and larger aircraft should have been made available. as for faster responce even the earthquake in ca had massive movement within 2 days not close to 5 like now. ok the astrodome is 350 miles away meaning it would take a day to get them to the astrodome and a day to get back. lol a helicopter could fly that trip in less than 3 hours. then again they could have stored some of it in the convention center where they told many of the people to go anyway where they waited for nothing with nothing. ok so for 6 hours each aircraft is useless as its in transit. it is not useless it is in transit with supplies. lol they should have been mobilized before the storm hit and their families should have evacuated just like everyone else was asked to do so sorry max no extra time required. you figure the ng should have been mobilized prior o the storm but you dont have a clue where they would be needed most or safest in assembling. it does not matter once assembled deployment happens much faster. even if you did you forget that they too deserve the chance to help protect their own families through the worst of the storm. they are in the military they gave up that type of choice when they joined and their families should have been evacuated prior to the storm hitting the area. according to you all aircraft had been removed from the strile zone prior to the storm so exactly what damage did they incure precisely why they are required by the faa and the military to have a preflight check and under special circumstances a more thorough one than that. and what exactly are thes special circumstances and lets see some time lines on how much longet these pre-flight checks will take. lol those peope are in no worse danger than everyone else without food water or shelter and the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. small boats could also deal with these rescues leaving the uscg to deliver needed food and water. unfortunately the uscg is not equpiied with helos that can carry large amounts of supplies so your brilliant decision couldnt be carried out even if you were in charge. and that is where the federal gov screwed up not making sure that these larger aircraft were available and in the area in case they were needed. where did i say otherwise. but the president still should have had his ass back in the white house sunday afternoon knowing the impending disaster and his staying on vacation was a major mistake.. given the communication network that follows potus and the fact that he can do nothing until the storm passes why change schedule and create chaos in the routine of his support systems just when they need to be most efficient. it is public apperance pinhead. and despite the communications network more can still be done in person. as for chaos in his support system lol you are really reaching now. if people dont have food or water their lives are in danger no matter where they are. pickups in flood zones can be done with small boats and rafts. the helos could be better used elsewhere and either way they took way to much time to even begin. unfortunately the uscg is not equpiied with helos that can carry large amounts of supplies so your brilliant decision couldnt be carried out even if you were in charge. and this is where the president or the fed screwed up. he should have made sure that this type of equipment was available should the uscg need

on 6 sep 2005 144204 -0400 snoman uselinktoemail@autoforumz.com wrote why do you think the ping stopped by magic ping is caused by too quick of flame speed spread speed of spread is determined by pressure and tempature of ignition source detenation is caused by the fuel igniting without a spark. by retarding the spark or using a colder plug to can retard the peak pressure and rate of flame spread in relation to piston cycle but when you retard combution process to control ping you loose efficency. man i took this stuff in college when studing for a engineering degree in the late 70s and the physics of the processes in a ic engine have not changed any only some of the methods to control and feed it has. the heat range of a spark plug is an indicator of how hot the tip of the plug can run a shorter thermal path to the shell means a colder plug.it has no effect on ignition timing. a vehicle running under load can ping due to pre-ignition from a hot plug. it is not common with factory spec plugs but has been known to happen. changing to a colder range plug in this instance can eliminate the ping - and at no cost in efficiency or performance. changing to a higher octane fuel can eliminate the ping in the very odd instance - but only if the higher octane fuel causes the hot plug to run cooler - and this virtually only happens if the engine is on the edge octane-wise to start with and mild detonation is destroying the boundary layer in the combustion chamber transferring excessive combustion heat to the plug. it is very difficult to differentiate between pre-ignition and detonation particularly since either one can cause the other - and its very difficult to tell which came first - kinda like the chicken and the egg. if higher octane fuel does not reduce the ping strongly suspect pre-ignition due to hot spots in the cyl.things like too hot a plug carbon deposits glowing or poorly fitting head gaskets glowing in the cyl.or overheatred valves - or even an overheated engine - which can be caused by timing retarded too far trying to get rid of ping or knock caused by running too low an octane rating of fuel for the engine design. first line of defence with a pinging engine is to run higher octane fuel. .

sorry but not sold here in the uk go get a good look at the new honda pickup. the tailgate on them will fold down or open to one side. maybe you can set yours up like that. roy wrote hi i have a 2003 quad cab 1500 pick up. i am trying to find out if there is someone who makes conversion to the tailgate. i am looking to replace it with two opening type doors similar to the ford excursion rear arrangement. why you ask . well i have a german sheppard whose back legs are going and the tail gate is two high but with a door arrangement he could use the bumper step on the way up. any help would be appreciated as i live in the uk and this sort of information is hard to get. thank ray bright ive used a ramp for a couple of my shepards through the years. there are a couple that are fiberglass or plastic that hinge in the middle light weight and easy storage. go here www.petco.com search ramps. roy --- avast! antivirus inbound message clean. virus database vps 0536-0 05/09/2005 tested on 05/09/2005 10638 pm avast! - copyright c 1988-2005 alwil software. http//www.avast.com you keep your old dog in the truck box - --- avast! antivirus outbound message clean. virus database vps 0536-0 05/09/2005 tested on 05/09/2005 10826 pm avast! - copyright c 1988-2005 alwil software. http//www.avast.com .

misunderstanding!!! no it doesnt die. never has. it runs fine. it simply codes if i allow the rpms to drop below 8900 as when decel from 30 mph down to a stop. the truck idles fine even in gear albeit it slightly uneven once the p0307 gets stored. but even with a code stored it doesnt die nor does it even act like it wants to. i know i cannot take it to the dealership and tell them what not to do. however i think i owe it to myself and my checkbook to at least give them an itemization of the things we have already tried along with a precise description of the symptoms. maybe that way they wont try to shotgun it and will actually look a little harder for the cause. lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net writes possible but the fact that the engine dies unless you give it a little throttle indicates a bigger problem than just a single cylinder. all else being equal a v8 can drop a cylinder and still maintain an idle albeit a rough one even under a bit of load. at this point an in-depth analysis of the entire fi system is needed a scanner capable of displaying real-time stats from all the various sensors to find out whats out of whack. this is a job for a professional. i understand the reluctance to give the dealer carte-blanche to run up a big diagnostic bill re-doing things youve already done but at this point i dont think you have much of an option. .

suddenly without warning roy exclaimed 03-sep-05 117 am why cant amtrack make a profit on their own because it wasnt designed to do so. amtrak is the orphan of the rail bankruptcy of the ne u.s. in the 1970s. amtrak started with junk facilities and a promise to fund rehab work until it could survive on its own. this has never been fully realized because the feds consistantly underfund it. compared to what it began with amtrak is shorter on routemiles barely more modern and headed for complete bankruptcy. well said. meanwhile conrail the freight entity created at the same time was funded consistantly until it was able to turn itself into a profitable corporation owned by the federal government. since the government in theory isnt supposed to own something where the private sector would be in competition conrail was offered to the highest bidder in the 90s iirc. it was eventually split between two railraods csx corp and norfolk southern. amtraks biggest problem imo has been the lack of trackage it can call its own usually sharing route miles with freight rail. in many cases it uses the rail lines owned by freight railroads. thus it is at the mercy of the freight roads in terms of scheduling stations and at times motive power. very true especially in ct they are stuck behind locals all the time. if this country changes its attitude towards how amtrak is structured and towards energy policies that dont have long term goals maybe amtrak will work. very true but they need some people in there that know how to run a railroad. a politically appointed board of directors that changes with administrations does it no good either. for steve scott this is where i first ran into haley barbour he was appointed to the amtrak bod. didnt know shit about railroad but that didnt stop him from fucking it up. roy hey why doesnt someone just offer a boatload of money for someone competent from the uk or europe to help fix the us train system. oh wait. maybe europe. im impressed with the breadth of the british rail system but not the quality. for example 40 minute train ride once took nearly two hours because there were *leaves on the tracks*. in fall. in england. duh! that would be conex. they were running the british rail until they were thrown out. iirc they run a number of railroads throughout the world. even here is the us roy .
