Fog lights to turn on with headlights

From : Annonymous

Q: i had the overdrive section of my auto transmission in this truck turn into a nice soupy mixture of metal shavings awhile back. since the truck had about 130k on it and the engine was getting tired i ordered up a rebuilt v6 and tranny from aftermarket sources. the tranny i received was date stamped as an 89 model but except for different sized fittings for the cooling lines everything appeared to fit the same and it went back together just fine and is running. ive rebuilt many engines but ive never really gotten into auto transmissions before but here are the symptoms of a problem that has come up. the truck holds a lower gear for way too long. when in drive the rpms go to near red-line without shifting. to force a shift it is necessary to get the speed up then let off the gas pedal a bit. at highway speeds it runs just fine so this issue only appears at low speeds. the second part of this problem is that the speedo now reads low. before the transmission change my gps showed a perfect match to the speedometer now it is reading about 5mph slow at highway speeds. if it were a standard tranny i would say that it is geared taller than the stock one was. any tranny guys out there who can provide some pointers on where to start with correcting this problem im hoping it is some simple tuning stuff so that i dont have to take her to a tranny shop to do it. hate to pay other people money to take care of mechanical stuff ya know. it was quite a bear to get that tranny in there in the first place... tia scott .

any particular brands ive always used either westin or smittybilt. i prefer westin steps over the smittybilts. my smittybilt steps hold up fine but they cut a notch out of the bars to mount the flat step and the mounting hardware inside the bar apparently isnt stainless so i get rust streaks down the bars. it wipes right off but its still kind of crappy. the westin bars have the flat part for the step molded right into the tube then the plastic step surface-mounted to the bar. this is a better method. on the front guards a one-piece guard would be preferred over a modular. the modular pieces bolt together creating the potential for gaps to show up over time hardware loosening up etc. obviously the potential isnt there on a one-piece but youll pay more shipping on a one-piece because of the size. im with tl on this. ive had the same experience go with the westin. westin may be a few bucks more but in this case you do get what ya pay for. roy .

limited slip diffs have both good and bad points and one of the bad points can be dangerous so unless it is requested when someone orders the truck they usually dont have them. how are they dangerous maybe to a person who doesnt know how to drive than anything is dangerous 79 t/a ws6 455 hurst 4 spd blk w/ t-tops heavily fortified 4mpg 00 ram 2500hd qc v-10 4x4blk5 spd410 lsd 10mpg 98 intruder 1400 blk 5 spd 25mpg they can be dangerous when wet and/or icy conditions are present. open diffs are made so that one tire can spin freely when turning so that corners can be made without dragging the slower tire through the turn. this helps with tire life as well as the traction through the turns. im not 100% sure about about dodges setup but lsds allow one tire to rotate slightly faster than the other for cornering but only to a limited amount after that the axle locks and both wheels turn. this can make for faster launches because both rear wheels get power but when both rear tire spin on slippery surfaces the rear end swings out really easy and its difficult to control. corners have to be taken alot slower and you cant apply as much power because as soon as you start to spin the rear slides out from under you. i know many people who have traded in their lsd or posi traction vehicles for open differential vehicles because the lsd was too hard to control in the snow. these people know how to drive and they drive well they were tired of fighting their lsd vehicle every step of the way when in snow. i ve heard of that before from people and i ve driven a shitload of different vehicles with and without lsds and i ve never would consider it a problem or dangerous i chalk it up more to driver inexperience than anything else and probably a poor choice of tires for driving in the snow 79 t/a ws6 455 hurst 4 spd blk w/ t-tops heavily fortified 4mpg 00 ram 2500hd qc v-10 4x4blk5 spd410 lsd 10mpg 98 intruder 1400 blk 5 spd 25mpg .

with all due respect you are playing with your srs at your own peril! i seriously doubt whether any dealer in their right mind would be a willing assistant in helping you disable this safety system. by disconnecting the srs module on the passenger side the system will detect a fault and illuminate the srs warning lit. it may also disable the system entirely leaving every occupant unprotected. i would keep the kiddo in the back seat like the manufacturer recommends and use the l.a.t.c.h. tether hookups provided. do what you want but be cognizant of the danger involved. chryco service manager member sae do not mess with the air bag wiring with the battery connected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! actually if you dont know what you are doing id suggest finding a dealer who will help. an airbag can kill if you or seriously injure you. shouldnt an 8 year old child be big enough to sit in an approved booster seat on thu 12 feb 2004 212034 gmt mmc merlinuxo@yahoo.com wrote hi ive just bought a 04 ram 1500 quad cab and am very happy with it. i have an 8 year old daughter who goes everywhere with me and i need to disconnect the passenger side air bag to make it legal and safe for her to ride in the front with me. the quad cabs dont have the key switch in the dash supposed to stick the kids in the back seat. i think i found the plug above the glove box yellow with an orange plastic tab but am unsure about messing around with it and getting the bag to function with my noggin right in front of it. is this the right plug how do the air bags actuate thanks merlin. .

havent you neglected internal resistances any differnce will cause long term problems not to mention an imediate attempt to pull the higher charged down discharge. im pretty sure thats why most of the rv manufacturers recommend dual in series 6 volt batteries if you need the higher amperage ratings... i wouldnt do it. as the previous poster mentioned the two *must be* identically sized electrically - not necessarily physically but likely would be if the electrical parameters are identically matched. lead-acid batteries most batteries for that matter do not play well together when bridged together in parallel + to + and - to - together they will also present an unexpected load to your alternator and voltage regulator. i profess no expertise but i am an industrial electrician manufacturing automation and i know just enough about dc power to not tamper with the design of a vehicle electrical system. if you really want two batteries you need to provide some high current i.e. 400-amp steering diodes for isolation so the batteries can each service the working load and each receive a charge more or less separately without being able to see each other electrically and cross-charging or cross-discharging each other. then of course theres that nagging little problem with the 0.6v average forward voltage drop across each diode. your 12v electrical system is all of a sudden an 11.4v electrical system. the above is about 100% false. you can run batteries in parallel makes absolutely no difference if they are matched or not as long as they are the same type and voltage. the charging system is regulated by the voltage at the battery terminals. the only problem would be if one was defective bad cell or some other problem. gm ford and dodge have all done it. al .

tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net says... while that is true if both have equal traction an open rear seems to favor one of the axles and there is a reason for it but it has been so long that i have completely forgotten what it is. youre probably thinking about the torque of the driveshaft twisting or trying to twist the rear axle. the axle wants to rotate around the differential counter-clockwise when viewed from the back which will give the drivers side tire a little more traction so the passenger side should break loose. theoretically of course the right side is the drive wheel. bdk .

due to the tortion from the drive shaft torque. torsion is a bar with one fixed end and one leveraged end. torsion trshn n. 1.. 1.. the act of twisting or turning. 2.. the condition of being twisted or turned. 2.. the stress or deformation caused when one end of an object is twisted in one direction and the other end is held motionless or twisted in the opposite direction. thechassis will twist ever so slightly just watch the super stock drag races you will notice some of the cars twisting under the hard acceleration. yup but on the street many other factors enter in. with traction at both wheels under acceleration the lsd will enguage a clutch that forces the two wheels to spin at the same speed. wrong. a lsd diff always has these clutches engaged due to a constant spring pressure. true but still is a pressue relative to the force of the wheelspin. arder acceleration more force on the clutch. wrong. the more difference in axle speed from one side to the other the more likely the lsd will slip unless one of those tires loses traction. the key to whether or not the lsd allows slip is how much traction each tire has. if both tires have more friction at the pavement than the lsd has in clutch friction the lsd will allow a differential in axle speed. if one of those tires loses friction to the point where the lsd clutches have more friction than that tire then the lsd stops slipping and effectively but not really locks the axles together. take a closer look. the force of the drive shaft is what causes the clutch to enguage not the difference in axle speed. if you are coasting there is less force and it acts as an open diff through the turn. pure bullshit. once one wheel loses traction there is no resistance and the clutch disenguages no fun when your rock crawling wrong. this is a limited slip differential it cannot disengage under any circumstance unless it fails altogether. it will either slip or not slip. do you care to go offroading with me so you can explain why the limited slip does nothing when i have wheels dangling a lsd requires at least some traction in order to work properly. http//www.torquecontrol.eaton.com/prod3.htm http//www.torquecontrol.eaton.com/prod2.htm if too much power is applied through a turn then clutch will enguage and not let the inner wheel spin slower. wrong. in a lsd it never disengages. ok applies less clutch. most the weight is on the outside tire anyways and if you are going through a turn so fast that the loss of traction of the inside wheel puts you into a spin maybe you should slow down anyways perhaps..... seasons first light rain half warn tires and a good stomp in the gas through a turn and the ass end will fish tail every time. perhaps you should grip the steering wheel and use it. i do.. and how does using the steering wheel eliminate the fishtailing i counter steer into the fishtail and correct myself if that is what you are refering to. it a straight line if i am stopped at a light in the rain and the drive tires are on the paint on the road then i cant jab the gas. i have to accelerate like a normal driver. maybe you should try accelerating like a normal driver more often. my truck also slips on the painted lines but i never come close to losing control. did i say i lose control there is a difference between can and do max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. begin 666 prime.gif m1te&.#ea! 6/ /py! $+ $!8.a^i$; *02jvhlo00$.p end begin 666 schwa.gif m1te&.#ea!@// /py! $+ &0a^i^$6 &h@2n7mk9ap0% end .

redneck tookover hell wrote just pull the two fuses in you fuse box for your air bags you posted this stupid shit five times!!!! go pull the fuses for your computer hell he changed the subject line and made two more of the same posts in addition to these four. maybe he knows about pulling the air bag fuses from personal experience and is still recovering. jerry .

the right side is the drive wheel. horse pucky. a differential doesnt give a rats ass which side it drives so the side with the least traction spins first. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

i have a 1994 and the dash has never cracked! i have a 1975 and the dash never cracked on that either. in fact in thinking about it my dad has a 1959 ford pickup and the dash has never cracked on that either or on his 1940 ford truck either. does that mean anything politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

i have a 1994 and the dash has never cracked! on fri 13 feb 2004 021203 gmt scott e. nelson snelso5@tampabay.rr.com wrote my 1999 ram quad cab dash has several cracks in it. left to right front to back. dash is gray in color. dodge says they will replace dash and split the cost of it and labor with me. my cost $370 min. anyone else have this problem i could understand one crack but several sounds like a defective plastic......... ouch! cap lock malfunction we bought a 99 ram qc from a dealer last year... the dah looks like someone removed the windshield hit the dash front/top with something and replaced the windshield... funny thing is the trucks never been wrecked and the windshield seal is stock and aged.... our cracks sound very much like yours if youre talking about the top of the dash... the front looks fine.. the dealer threw in a dash cover matching the color camel pretty well and the dash doesnt rattle so we bought it and love the truck.. mac .

on wed 11 feb 2004 124852 gmt john a. stephens winterbourn@direcway.com wrote redneck tookover hell wrote this is a follow-up to the thread cummins vs hemi which as threads usually do...went way off on a tangent. at least you learned how to spell cummins this time. thats your positive stroke politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. spelling is the use of rote memory which takes little or no intelligence. intelligence is the ability to solve complex problems. if we were to use intelligence to spell we would spell words phonetically. so why make spelling an issue not sure was it mark twain that said something like a smart man knows more than one way to spell a word if he didnt it sure sounds like something the old buzzard would. ;- jeff beg to differ jeff. what that i think the above statement is something that twain is likely to have said what makes you think he wouldnt if he did proper spelling and grammar are a sign of intelligence. if your statement were true why bother to learn to spell at all since it is that unimportant my statement speaks for itself. i was making a comment about mark twain and what he may or may not have said. we use words to communicate our thoughts if the words are improperly communicated via spelling or grammar the original thought intent and purpose may be lost and subject to error of interpretation. finally proper spelling indicates a knowledge of the subject matter or lack of! that is important to instill confidence in the reader. yup spelling is rote but so are multiplication tables and many other things we use everyday and it is important and regardless of what the esteemed mr twain said he thought otherwise! besides the fact that you just indicated that mark twain is/was a hypocrite i think you should re-read the thread up to and including my contribution. also if you really want to know my opinion i dont give a rats ass about usenet spelling. as long as i can understand what the poster is trying to say im fine with it. who cares if there are a few misspellings or some tortured syntax now and then if you dont like it thats your opinion. commenting on it though again if you ask me is a bit anal. that being said deliberatly misrepresenting my comment and using it to further youre personal spell-cop agenda is decidedly anal. just my opinion. ymmv. ;- any misspellings or other grammer/syntax errors are mine alone and i take full responsibility hows that jeff i wasnt commenting about mark twain nor was i implying in anyway that he is/was a hypocrite. in fact he is one of my favorite humorists. i was commenting about your opinion that spelling is unimportant. also if you take the time you will find that i am not a spell-cop and i have never corrected anyones spelling in this or any other ng. i was just disagreeing with your philosophy about the importance of spelling. mike mike mac .

not that im god or anything. but i think both ideas are correct. a differential is designed to not favor any side and it doesnt. true enough the wheel with less traction always spins then both ideas are not correct. but torsion of the chassis leads to a general condition of one side having more downward force holding the tire to the road under heavy acceleration. there is one of those conditions i was talking about proving that a favored axle doesnt exist. so that would mean the other side would have less traction because its not being pushed down on by torsion of the chassis even though both wheels are on similar traction surfaces. again similar is not good enough. but i think we all know that what ever tire is on the ice... if the other is on bare pavement.... will spin no matter what side its on providing the traction control doesnt stop it. proving once again that one of the ideas is not correct. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .
