on tue 5 sep 2006 223739 -0400 chevrolet lblower@cogeco.ca wrote well should say was seized.. but now it starts then shuts off .. no fuel. the guy i bought it from flooded the engine so much that after he ran it 10 min it seized.. well i get the truck and like to tinker so i take all the plugs out and dump some diesel fuel.. let sit 4 hours then dump oil in all the cyls....come back 3 hours later and crank it it slow spurts..but it clicks like it is seized solid...so i wait another hour and roll over time.. pissin oil all over.. put the plugs back in and fire it up.. it starts runs 2 seconds and stalls.. have to use starting fluid.. it sounds good. running for the whole 2-3 seconds.. will this motor be okay.. or should i dump the 318 magnum in it and convert to fi .. any thoughts on why it wont run after gas is dumped in it .. etc would be great. thanx it should be a 225 not a 198 in a truck. the old slant six is likely one of the most durable engines even built though emission controls left it pretty weak power wise in its later days. back in the late 60 and into 70s i own 3 different cars with slant 6s. two were 225s and one was a 170. they were all very dependable and the 170 would do low 20s on highway regularly even with automatic in a 63 plymouth valient complete with push botton shifter for tranny. . ----------------- thesnoman.com hole thanks for the trip down memory lane. how about you answer the questions in the v10 thread. .

coasty wrote i was watching a motor show and they said more than likely dodge will be dropping the cummins engine from the dodge truck line in favor of a mercedes diesel sometime around 2010 after the cummins contract expires. coast i herd a few years ago that they were dropping cummins. they said mercedes diesel would replace it but i also herd that cat was developing a diesel for the dodge. if cat diesel would replace them i think dodge would sell pretty good. it really doesnt make any sense to me why dc would drop cummins for cat instead of just using their own engines unless cat is offering one hell of a deal that even mercedes cant beat. cummins has already proven itself in the ram and while i can see a significant cost savings dropping a mercedes diesel in it after the contract expires i really dont see how cat could beat cummins price by enough to risk the loss in sales by switching away from cummins. i heard that cummins was bought out by either ford or gm- i cant remember which. pure bs. roy .
