First oil change?

From : miles

Q: do you guys make your first oil change a bit early or wait till the usual 3000 miles or so also i have been hearing rumors that dodge is recommending 5w20 for the hemi. is the 5.7l hemi different that any other engine for oil requirements something about sticky lifters. i would still think it would depend on ones climate. .

i would recommend using what is recommended in your owners manual 10w30 i assume. i also highly recommend changing to full synthetic i like mobile 1. change it at about 2000 miles and then go w/ the 7500 mile light duty schedule in your manual. -- tony my boats at http//t.thomas.home.mchsi.com do you guys make your first oil change a bit early or wait till the usual 3000 miles or so also i have been hearing rumors that dodge is recommending 5w20 for the hemi. is the 5.7l hemi different that any other engine for oil requirements something about sticky lifters. i would still think it would depend on ones climate. .

i have been hearing rumors that dodge is recommending 5w20 for the hemi. is the 5.7l hemi different that any other engine for oil requirements something about sticky lifters. most of the new engines have light oil recommendations. take a look at the various product for sale 0-30 for european cars is one example partly its a friction thing that can affect gas mileage. part of it is that the new engines are built to much closer tolerances than was done 10-15 yers ago. the engines use hydraulic roller lifters which ive seen guys using 20-50 racing oil with no problems politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

3000 mile change - so far so good. i use the manufacturers recommended weight oil - 5w-30 in my 04 dakota- due to warranty issues. i started using mobil 1 in this truck - well see how things come out at 100000 miles or so - stay tuned. the engine will run to 200000 miles with no problems regardless of what oil you use as long as you change oil and the filter regularly politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .
