First Day in snow in my new truck
From : jonathan kaplan
Q: well today was the day. six inches on the ground and continuous snow fall in nj. potential blizzard overnight. 4 1/2 hours to get home from work normal trip about an hour. my ram 1500 2dr 2wd with four studded snow tires and 450lbs of sand performed flawlessly. i went over packed snow that would haved caused the wheels to spin on my former front wheel drive sable. i was able to go up hills with no wheelspin and no sliding on the corners by the sidestreets. four wheel drive would have been useless considering the average speed i was traveling was 5mph sitting on the nj turnpike and route 78. next to many suvs. in ny and nj the vast majority of time is spent on well plowed highways and sitting in traffic. if i didnt have my xm radio today i would have be suicidal. at least i know my truck handles snow well. im ready for the next storm. .

now now. dont you realize red knows everything about everything just ask him! vbg what he doesnt realize is that the manual tranny has one extra gear and as a result closer gear ratios and does not lose the power that is lots on the conversion in the torque converter. redneck tookover hell wrote take it you had the power robbing automatic power robbing automatic lets see how would that be with the torque convertor locked in 3rd or in 4thoverdrive with 3rd being 1 to 1 and 4thoverdrive being relatively the same ratio as 5th in the manual. hmm....thats a bit over simplified. you are aware that almost all automatics get worse gas mileage than a manual even on the highway with the tc locked. .

@removethis.hotmail.com says... that is my kind of luck. i was not paying attention a couple of years ago and let my inspection expire. i realized this and set up an appointment to get it inspected the next day. it has only been expired for 2 days. guess who got noticed by a she bear state trooper she wrote me up even thought i was on the way to get it inspected. i however did not get out of that one. my brother on the other hand has been known to drive around for years without inspections being done and is he ever pulled over chas .
