FRONT - END ALIGNMENT
From : jerrylw
Q: sir i took my dodge 2004 3500 extended cab dually to the dealer to have the front - end aligned because it was pulling to the right on the highway slightly. the service manager came back to me and said that dodge had designed a slight pull to the right because if you fell asleep it would to go off the highway instead of going into oncoming traffic. can anyone explain to me the logic behind this this is like saying to me some drivers drink and drive so therefore everyone drives drunk. weve designed the truck to stop. i keep wondering whats the wear to the tires and front end and even the fuel milage. .

sure i do. i also have a reason for making changes to it especially if it is brand new and i am curious as to his. i believe you said since he hasnt even driven it yet he dosent have any idea what the factory performance is odd that you assume he doesnt and you of course would have that knowledge before buying a vehicle. guess im missing something here. yes roy i think that you are. you asked if i had an idea of what the performance would be and i said yes. i didnt say that i knew exactly what performance it would have or every upcoming need. and i also said that if i intended to make changes to a new vehicle i had a specific reason for doing it and was curious as to what his were. no tom it would seem that i didnt miss much of anything. it was just you doing your usual. ditto -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

my 2003 1500 qc does the same thing. the dealer did an alignment and it stills pulls to the right.only slightly though. on all roads. what i wanted fixed was that the steering wheel was not centered going straight. they didnt fix that either. the tires are wearing evenly though. i would say take it to a real front end shop. sir i took my dodge 2004 3500 extended cab dually to the dealer to have the front - end aligned because it was pulling to the right on the highway slightly. the service manager came back to me and said that dodge had designed a slight pull to the right because if you fell asleep it would to go off the highway instead of going into oncoming traffic. can anyone explain to me the logic behind this this is like saying to me some drivers drink and drive so therefore everyone drives drunk. weve designed the truck to stop. i keep wondering whats the wear to the tires and front end and even the fuel milage. .

i have gotten that answer on every vehicle that was not able to be aligned properly. i would check with other garages. i think you may find a worn part track bar tie rod end etc.. that they dont want to replace. sir i took my dodge 2004 3500 extended cab dually to the dealer to have the front - end aligned because it was pulling to the right on the highway slightly. the service manager came back to me and said that dodge had designed a slight pull to the right because if you fell asleep it would to go off the highway instead of going into oncoming traffic. can anyone explain to me the logic behind this this is like saying to me some drivers drink and drive so therefore everyone drives drunk. weve designed the truck to stop. i keep wondering whats the wear to the tires and front end and even the fuel milage. .

i know somebody that a pontiac dealer said the same thing about her grand am. designed to pull to the right. i thought that was a crock too but not my car. philip i worked for pontiac for many years..the grandams were not designed to pull to the right. gm is one that in particular will go out of their way to set specs on the front ends to make the steering want to get straight...my firebird is like that...just a fraction of a toe in on both sides. when you are told something like that its a crock of shit. the service manager is either clueless or monkey that the techs are running nd the techs suck. .

on a perfectly flat surface it shouldnt pull but the crown in the road causes the slight pull to the right i know somebody that a pontiac dealer said the same thing about her grand am. designed to pull to the right. i thought that was a crock too but not my car. philip cbhvac wrote sir i took my dodge 2004 3500 extended cab dually to the dealer to have the front - end aligned because it was pulling to the right on the highway slightly. the service manager came back to me and said that dodge had designed a slight pull to the right because if you fell asleep it would to go off the highway instead of going into oncoming traffic. can anyone explain to me the logic behind this this is like saying to me some drivers drink and drive so therefore everyone drives drunk. weve designed the truck to stop. i keep wondering whats the wear to the tires and front end and even the fuel milage. first....stop looking like you are a webtv or aol...wait..nevermind..you are an aol user...sheesh....ok..man..lesson #1...see the caps lock key press the damn thing and type like the rest of the world....not the few suckers that get aol and think that every mail and post must be in caps... second there is road crown and something called radial pull. most every truck we own will pull right. road crown there and you can bitch at the state or you can deal with it like everyone else does. i cant see your dealer handing you a line of shit like he did since he just mde dodge liable for some stupid lawsuits...and if i were you i would call the dealer owner and complain. now...iirc and someone in here can help me out since i cant get to the information till later but i think there is a service bulletin on this....i may be wrong but i think i saw one on it. to me since i have normal tire wear and its nothing real irritating i just live with it...parts of the hiway we go left parts right...depends on the crown of the road. if you are not happy with that answer you can try swapping the front tires with each other and see if it now pulls left. if it does its in the tire its normal and wont hurt a thing. the other thing you can check yourself is the tire pressures. if the right side is low its going to pull. now...other than that its doubtful you have a problem. .
