Q: thanks maxpower but i dont see any fault codes. what is the bcm anyway thanks mike hello i have an 01 dodge caravan 3.3l and lately once and awhile driving the wipers come on all by themselves and now i seen them come on from the house while it was sitting in the driveway parked with no key! it is very cold out here and wondering if that might have something to do with it does anyone know what this could be its very weird. im afraid i will have a drained battery and worn down wipers in the morning. thanks mike the biggest problem was the mulifunction switch on this vehicle. you may want to take the car in and have the dealer check for any fault codes especially in the bcm im sorry bcm body control module iow yet another useless part that serves no real purpose other than to make the vehicle increasingly more complex and all the more difficult to service outside of the dealership. yup! we design em that way! ;^ mike yep and on purpose too. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving so what is done in this situation does the bcm require replacing mike the symptoms that you are describing makes that sound like a strong possibility. since your vehicle may still be under warranty i would have the dealer take a look at it. i would suspect that this is not an inexpensive part. and where is the bcm located i have no idea where it could be in your vehicle but there are others in here that may. picking up a fsm may be a good idea if you intend to do any work on that vehicle. just looking through it can give you an idea what jobs may be beyond your abilities before you start them and get yourself into trouble. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving the bcm is located on the left side by the emergency brake assembly it has to be ordered thru chrysler only and programmed before installed most likely your problem is going to be in the multifunction switch.. the bcm is a cost of around 300.00 part only how would the multi-function switch be to blame for this unless dc made some changes im unaware of the wipers being active when the ignition switch is off and his primary concern is that the wipers are activating on their own with nobody even in the vehicle and the vehicle shut off. it looks more like the bcm itself is acting up and turning them on regardless of input from the ignition or the mfs. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving the grease that is used in the switches cause most of the phantom wipe problems and other related problems and its not just the caravans i had a repair job today on a 2001 pt cruiser that could not get the fog lamps off even when the key was in his pocket he pulled the fuse and bought it in......once again mutlifuntion switch cured the problem. not to say that the bcm is or is not the problem on the op post butt most problems are related to that switch. when you start multiplexing you save on weight and wiring thus keeps the cost down. but problems like these start to creep up.and thats why we need the bcm.....as someone put it....so the customer brings it to the dealer .

jerry wrote no.spam@junk.mail.net wrote then go to http//www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.0.html and dump the micro$oft trash im presently using firefox and find it works very well. small clean and not cluttered with useless bells and whistles. actually it is a toss up as to which one i like best firefox or netscape 7.0 which i also like. i have always hated ie and avoid it at all times. firefox recommends a program called thunderbird as a mail and reader which im using now and again it is a good program except for its inability to let you click on a link when the reader is open and go directly to that location. instead you have to copy the link location and then paste it into firefox to get there. very annoying but doable. firefox had no problems with links itself. btw both of these programs are free from mozilla. jerry i have been using firefox as my group reader for the last 4 months been working well dale .

moparman wrote roy wrote gotta ask. i run norton systemworks. it has it all. but i still run the freebies and they every so often come up with something. usually a miner or some such. why is that ditto here..... i also run norton but contrary to what some would claim norton doesnt catch everything so i also have zonealarm and spybot installed.. jerry norton should be installed on a new system before you ever connect the nic cable. failing to do this with any virus program is bad . never connect a cable to your pc before you install a firewall. install these programs as you as suppose to and youll only need one program. sounds nice but unfortunately it doesnt work that way. got the wife a new computer year before last and norton was already installed as part of the software package. signed on to the net just to establish her email account couldnt have been on longer than 2 minutes. withing that time got the blaster worm norton never saw it coming. a lot of these programs are free and they work ............. why limit yourself when you dont have to. jerry jerry .

im leaving ca for alaska for a few weeks of travel with my 04 arctic fox 5th wheel behind my 03 2500 laramie ho 4wd. i already have 60k on the original tires and want to change them out before i leave. i was in talking to big-o today as that is where i have bought for the past 15-20 years or so and he is recommending the big foot a/t. he says it handles wet roads much better than the mich. i have on there yeah not much traction on the originals. also rated for 70k miles. he did say there might be a bit more road noise but not much. these are lt265/70r17. more tire info at http//www.bigotires.com/index.asppg=2&sub=12b&catid=01big31 or http//tinyurl.com/5rmh4 for short. for 4 tires he will toss in the alignment. this is a tire i expect to last 24 - 30 months so i want to have something that wont be bothersome. is this a good tire are there better ones out there in the $7-800 price range the only complaint i really have about the michilins sp is the lack of traction on wet pavement. -- fmb only one b in fmb my size is 285 sure that is your belt size!!bfg roy you do realize that is in millimeters..right you get much snow we got about 2-3 in of slush covered by white slop. denny a couple of days ago we picked up 6. more supposedly wed -fri. put the strobes in yesterday. no matter how many times i do this it is a big friggin pia. the 05s dont leave much room to drill a hole in the back up light. i need 1 hole and barely made it. six lights all had to be waterproofed then wires snaked back along the frame rails to under the drivers side seat. even with ps there was more room to mount the power supply than under the passenger. anyway got it all finished turned them all on and found i could not run the fronts and rears together. on two switches and one would cancel out the other. we went over the wiring for a couple of hours to no avail. figure it is the power supply. ill mess with it next weekend. i dont often run the fronts due to the reflection off the snow so the rears will be fine. roy .

shes got 108k on her. the noise starts low pitch with acceleration she gets much higher. i put her on stands to see where it is coming from. it is the rear end for sure but which ever side im on it sounds like the other. i got in the center and still had a hard time telling. being this is my only vehicle i was just going to swap out the rear end. is there any other tests i may do that would point in a better direction. any places in particular to get a rear other than a junk yard. how do i know what my factory rear end is .

i have since found cheaper prices. i was just using these two for comparision because they happen to be at the same dealer. my big question was v6 or v8. im looking at purchasing a used 2002 dakota but have a question about the models. ive found a 4dr slt 4x4 with 70000kms for $24995.00 canadian. it has the 4.7l v8. i also found a sport 4dr with 67000kms for $22995.00 canadian. it has the 3.9l v6 wich would be better on gas i would think. which was the better model the slt or the sport the prices are way out of line for either one. walk away! .
