Q: the govt nhtsa mandates those airbags thats what they had to do with the safety features designed into the truck. it is also the government that made the distinction of what constitutes a 4 door vehicle. if the rear doors can be opened only after the front is opened then they get an airbag on/off switch like the older qc design or the current chebby. if they can be opened independently then the mfg cannot offer the switch. i dont follow that governmental logic myself. however nhtsa offers a waiver where you can have one installed. http//www.nhtsa.dot.gov/airbags/brochure/reqform.html there are situations where airbags are dangerous but safety measures are a personal choice. some ride motorcycles without helmets some dont wear seat belts others refuse to wear safety glasses while using power tools. on fri 13 feb 2004 031400 -0600 mike simmons mikesim@fidnet.com wrote only one b ill bet you think the govt is only acting in your best interest dont you unless youre the lead sheep the views always the same. merlin what the government has to do with the saefty features designed into your ram is beyond me. are you so obtuse that you fail to realize the inherent safety of keeping your daughter in the back seat where by design she is safer in the event of a frontal impact you posted a query in this ng you got answers some telling you how to disable the airbags if you so choose others pointing out the folly of your quest. you make the choice after all it is your daughters life that you are compromising.... if you can live with that so be it.... but maybe she wont. mike hi ive just bought a 04 ram 1500 quad cab and am very happy with it. i have an 8 year old daughter who goes everywhere with me and i need to disconnect the passenger side air bag to make it legal and safe for her to ride in the front with me. the quad cabs dont have the key switch in the dash supposed to stick the kids in the back seat. i think i found the plug above the glove box yellow with an orange plastic tab but am unsure about messing around with it and getting the bag to function with my noggin right in front of it. is this the right plug how do the air bags actuate thanks merlin. merlin if you are so concerned for her safety as you appear to be then put her in the back seat where she will be safer. quit trying to beat the safety system in the truck. if something happens i hope nothing does and she gets hurt in the front seat you will alway wonder if it was partially or fully your fault for not having her in the back where she belongs. -- fmb only one b in fmb .

thanks guys i had the panel on but the little screw for the cover that holds it in place was stripped. wife says thanks too.. now i know from personal experience too... mike hi mike jerry and bryan are right on. you didnt get the cover back on correctly and the cut-off switch is open. if the cover is not on there can be no pressure created in the airhandler box to blow air. thats why its there. remove the cover and locate that switch its a small micro-switch. thatll let you know how the cover has to be installed to close it properly. hth. --mike finally got a day off and went to change the filters in my furnace. trane natural gas. the furnace was running when i went into the util. closet so i went back and turned it off via the thermostat lux tx500 programmable. it had been running for about 5 minutes. well i get the filters in and go to turn it back on and it wont do anything. i waited and waited and it would never kick back on. i even switched it over to ac and even to continuous fan and still nothing. the panel opening for the filters is on the opposite side of the wiring on the furnace so i dont see how i could have tripped up anything or pulled any wires loose. i thought maybe the digital thermostat might have went bad. i even switched it back over to the old mechanical thermostat and it still wont do anything. any hvac people have any ideas on what to look for checked the fuse box..nothing tripped check the glass fuse on the units power box..its good. pilot light is on. what else is there wife says its cold... thanks mike .

on wed 11 feb 2004 124852 gmt john a. stephens winterbourn@direcway.com wrote redneck tookover hell wrote this is a follow-up to the thread cummins vs hemi which as threads usually do...went way off on a tangent. at least you learned how to spell cummins this time. thats your positive stroke politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. spelling is the use of rote memory which takes little or no intelligence. intelligence is the ability to solve complex problems. if we were to use intelligence to spell we would spell words phonetically. so why make spelling an issue not sure was it mark twain that said something like a smart man knows more than one way to spell a word if he didnt it sure sounds like something the old buzzard would. ;- jeff beg to differ jeff. what that i think the above statement is something that twain is likely to have said what makes you think he wouldnt if he did proper spelling and grammar are a sign of intelligence. if your statement were true why bother to learn to spell at all since it is that unimportant my statement speaks for itself. i was making a comment about mark twain and what he may or may not have said. we use words to communicate our thoughts if the words are improperly communicated via spelling or grammar the original thought intent and purpose may be lost and subject to error of interpretation. finally proper spelling indicates a knowledge of the subject matter or lack of! that is important to instill confidence in the reader. yup spelling is rote but so are multiplication tables and many other things we use everyday and it is important and regardless of what the esteemed mr twain said he thought otherwise! besides the fact that you just indicated that mark twain is/was a hypocrite i think you should re-read the thread up to and including my contribution. also if you really want to know my opinion i dont give a rats ass about usenet spelling. as long as i can understand what the poster is trying to say im fine with it. who cares if there are a few misspellings or some tortured syntax now and then if you dont like it thats your opinion. commenting on it though again if you ask me is a bit anal. that being said deliberatly misrepresenting my comment and using it to further youre personal spell-cop agenda is decidedly anal. just my opinion. ymmv. ;- any misspellings or other grammer/syntax errors are mine alone and i take full responsibility hows that jeff i wasnt commenting about mark twain nor was i implying in anyway that he is/was a hypocrite. in fact he is one of my favorite humorists. i was commenting about your opinion that spelling is unimportant. also if you take the time you will find that i am not a spell-cop and i have never corrected anyones spelling in this or any other ng. i was just disagreeing with your philosophy about the importance of spelling. where did i say in my reply that spelling was not important the post i was replying to made that assertion not me. jeff jeff did you not post this spelling is the use of rote memory which takes little or no intelligence. intelligence is the ability to solve complex problems. if we were to use intelligence to spell we would spell words phonetically. so why make spelling an issue perhaps i have you mixed up with another poster yes you do. that was not posted by me. look at the original and note the number of . anyway its not a big deal. jeff mike mike mac .

everyone is correct as far as i can see to a certain extent. incorrect. anyone that says the differential somehow favors either axle without consideration of outside forces is missing most of the reason why its a differential. could this same phenomenon be translated to a car/truck with an engine turning in one direction i dont know which which causes all things being equal the right side to slightly twist down giving it more traction thereby giving the illusion of it being the drive wheel again this is the torque delivered by the driveshaft acting on the axle housing via the gears. this is an outside force acting on a differential that couldnt give a damn which axle it turns more often. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .
