i have a 1996 ram 1500 4x2 5.2 w/auto and 295k miles on it. recently last 2 or 3 months when my gas level get to between a little over 1/4 full empty.the check engine light starts to blink and the engine starts to backfire/miss-fire like crazy! it seems like i am running out of gas i know this is not the case. because when i fill it after this happened the amount that goes in is correct. the first time it happened the low gas light was on which i believe is about 6 gal. left. since then it has happened 4 or 5 times all when i have over 1/4 tank left. when i read the error codes p0300 - p03005 all that tells me is that the engine has been miss-firing duh!. i had the fuel pump replaced at 250k miles and other than the above problem the truck runs great. the only thing i can think of is something is blocking the intake on the fuel pump since i have no idea what the fuel pump even looks like since i had a garage mechanic replace it. other than that i do all my own repair/maintenance. does anyone have any other ideas since i really dont want to drop the tank and pull the fuel pump. my one idea was to cut a hole in the bed right over the fuel pump and pull it that way but i am not sure that is possible. thanks david you can ask your question about your sons truck even if it is a ford. most here dont care and if they have the answer will share it with you. this group is unique in that manner. roy .

ditto! hope some smart decisions are made and we get our folks out of that shooting gallery soon. roy -- ---------------------------- -chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd real trucks dont need spark plugs. . 222 329165 ifydnfusozvl9spynz2dnuvzv-tnz2d@comcast.com hi i found a hold in my y exhaust pipe and it seems no one makes it without having to go to the dealer. anyhow i found one at a used parts store and was thinking about replacing it myself. there only is four bolts from what i can tell that need to be removed. anyhow i dont have the deep sockets so will need to buy the correct size socket for this job does anyone know what size this would be that is for the four nuts that connect the y exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. make sure you buy 6 point sockets. also buy some new nuts. .

anyhow i dont have the deep sockets so will need to buy the correct size socket for this job does anyone know what size this would be if i had to guess id say 14mm but thats just a guess. measure it with an open-end wrench. of course now would be a good opportunity to get yourself a set of deep sockets - this wont be the last time you need them. and make sure you have plenty of penetrating oil... those nuts are going to be goodnrusty .
