tom lawrence wrote i dont know... i was thinking i had done this before on my truck and i also was thinking the opposite of what you say - that the on-off-on- off-on procedure existed up until 2000 models or whenever they imposed obd-ii. but i may very well be mistaken. obd-ii came about in 96. i know for a fact that 98 and 99 rams did not have the ability to display the codes and that function has been available from 00 on up. i have no direct experience with a 97 dakota but would strongly suspect that it lacks that ability as well. my 2001 dakota has this feature for reading the codes on the odometer. gary .

on fri 5 oct 2007 073346 -0500 ed m. ed@edmedlin.com wrote some wanted to know how things turned out with my ram rear differential problems with excessive play at the pinion. it turned out to be just an adjustment of the compression collar and tightening the retaining nut. basically just adjusting the end-play. they also replaced the rear universal joint. the shop checked for any metal shavings in the differential or any excessive heat after a 10mi drive at highway speeds and everything checked out fine. total bill was $50.00 even. there was never any leakage or noise so i guess it was caught just in time before any damage was done. i finally got a bit of luck to my side.......- ed for $50 bucks how do you know no competent shop could have pulled the differential out set the proper preload on the pinion bearing put the differential back in and checked the backlash for $50.00. beekeep damn greg! thats the first time ive ever heard you bitch about something thats too cheap! ;^ mike .

im installing a uconnect add-on and am thinking about mounting the mike and control pad to the overhead mini trip computer. anyone know how to lower it down and/or remove it clips somewhere or are there screws hidden behind the lamps perhaps there should be one screw in the middle closest to the windshield. then grab the sides of the console and pull straight down disengaging the spring clips that hold it in place. this is for an 06 so hopefully the 07s are similar. .

question is how do i select the correct drop down/up pintle adapter for my 2 receiver do i need to measure the trailer to be towed height from the ground when it is level do i need to consider the sag from the weight on the hitch the unsprung height to the middle of my receiver is 21 from the ground. the truck is a 2005 ram 1500 with a hemi in it. the hitch is from dodge i put it in myself. the current receiver unit is a master-lock adjustable which has done well= by me as i can install 3 different ball sizes for various trailer = hook-ups. too bad they dont make a adjustable height pintle setup. any information will be appreciated. thanks in advance! kurt due to e-mail spamming bots my reply address is incorrect. .

iirc 97 was a model-change year for the daks much like 98 was for the rams you have a digital odometer correct. they didnt implement the obd-ii code display for those until 00. youre going to have to get a code reader. i dont know... i was thinking i had done this before on my truck and i also was thinking the opposite of what you say - that the on-off-on- off-on procedure existed up until 2000 models or whenever they imposed obd-ii. but i may very well be mistaken. .
