From : dah
Q: i want a used v8 dakota club cab . i cant decide if i want a 2000 or newer model or a 1997 -1999 model. i am not considering an rt the older model has the tried and true 318 ci and the newer has the 4.7l v8. the older model should be less expensive to purchase and i dont really know anything about the 4.7l engine. i am looking for some suggestion opinions experiance etc. remove the number if you would like to reply be email. thanks in advance. dan z1iad1ram@ho1tmail.com .

the only real advantage to an overhead cam design is at high rpm were the lack of pushrods allows a somewhat higher rpm range. otherwise the pushrod engine with a good rocker arm ratio can do as well or in some situations better. budd ..bob wrote dah wrote i want a used v8 dakota club cab . i cant decide if i want a 2000 or newer model or a 1997 -1999 model. i am not considering an rt the older model has the tried and true 318 ci and the newer has the 4.7l v8. the older model should be less expensive to purchase and i dont really know anything about the 4.7l engine. i am looking for some suggestion opinions experiance etc. remove the number if you would like to reply be email. thanks in advance. dan z1iad1ram@ho1tmail.com i would go for the older truck with the 318. its a great motor with lots of power for real work. the 4.7 has the potential to be a great engine but it isnt there yet. the overhead cams should be able to produce a boatload of torque with greater efficiency than the push rod magnums. but - oddly - does not. .
