Q: i am thinking of switching out my v-6 to a 360 v-8 anyone tell me what all i have to do with the computer when i do this and if i go to true duals exhaust how does the puter pickup from both sides generally i need to know what all i will have to change i will probally use a older block that will be souped up some. thanks .

97 dakotas do not have a frt. axle disconnect or vacume lines! the front drive shaft turns whenever truck is moving and so are the gears & everything else is the 242 full time transfer case a direct interchange with the part time 231 hd will the shifter driveshafts & electronics work ok does the 242 have an open differential or some kind of a posi or clutch like the quadratrac did dick 97 dakota 5.2 4x4 with 231 hd auto. as a precautionary measure i always lock the 4x in at least every month to test it out. it also helps to keep things inside the front pumpkin moving freely. maybe a vacuum line came undone over the summer thoranw wrote i just found out that my transfer case will not shift into 4 wheel drive. of course i find this out when the storm hits and i have to run out and go to work i live in massachusetts i would like some ideas on what to check to find the problem. here are some specs and what the truck is doing. 97 3.9l with manual trans and lever/stick transfer case selector. 2wd operation is fine no extra noise or vibration can shift the transfer case into all modes you can shift into neutral and 4 low but the light does not come on and it will not engage the front wheels please leave all comments about how bad dodge is and should have bought a chevy/ford at the door. thanks in advance --- outgoing mail is certified virus free. checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.547 / virus database 340 - release date 12/2/2003 .
