Engine Light on HEMI
From : briceh
Q: i just bought a 2003 dodge 1500 hemi quad cab truck w/8400 miles on it. after driving a few weeks i noticed that the engine light came on after starting it last night and stayed it is now staying on. the owners manual mentioned something about it could be a simple emissions test that needs to be performed or possible issues with the electrical system. the engine is running like a top as it always has so i dont know. as anyone else seen this also if so what did it turn out to be on yours thanks. brice .

then your best bet would be to take it to one of the auto parts store that will hook your truck up and get the codes and their descriptions for you. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving just did i took the cap off and back on. i noticed that the cap does not tightnen down too much before it starts clicking but i have had the truck for a few weeks and no problems so not sure. light still comes on and stays on after taking the cap off and on. any other ideas thanks. brice check your gas cap and make sure that it is tight. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i just bought a 2003 dodge 1500 hemi quad cab truck w/8400 miles on it. after driving a few weeks i noticed that the engine light came on after starting it last night and stayed it is now staying on. the owners manual mentioned something about it could be a simple emissions test that needs to be performed or possible issues with the electrical system. the engine is running like a top as it always has so i dont know. as anyone else seen this also if so what did it turn out to be on yours thanks. brice .

that kind of thing is inexcusable in a group. the poor fella comes here to get help and you do that to him ummm... i have a 2003 truck exactly like his. my check engine light came on while out on the road at eh start of a 250 mile trip. i stopped at a gas station and checked all the fluid levels under the truck etc. everything was fine. got back in and the light was still on and stayed on. about 100 miles down the road i pulled off again to get some gas. after the fill up as i was re-entering the freeway i noticed the light had gone out. gas cap very well could have been. jeff briceh wrote just did i took the cap off and back on. i noticed that the cap does not tightnen down too much before it starts clicking but i have had the truck for a few weeks and no problems so not sure. light still comes on and stays on after taking the cap off and on. any other ideas thanks. brice check your gas cap and make sure that it is tight. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i just bought a 2003 dodge 1500 hemi quad cab truck w/8400 miles on it. after driving a few weeks i noticed that the engine light came on after starting it last night and stayed it is now staying on. the owners manual mentioned something about it could be a simple emissions test that needs to be performed or possible issues with the electrical system. the engine is running like a top as it always has so i dont know. as anyone else seen this also if so what did it turn out to be on yours thanks. brice .
