Durango tranny question
From : robert
Q: my neighbour has a 2003 cummins h0 automatic. he was telling me that he has trouble getting the trans out of park when the trans is cold. the truck has to run for a few minutes then he can shift it into drive. is he parking on a hill if so tell him do stop set the e-brake then shift to park. upon starting shift to drive release e-brake and go. this is true of any auto trans - you bind up the park pawl pawk otherwise. by the way - he does realize theres a brake interlock solenoid that only lets the trans shift out of park when the brake pedal is depressed .

i started having trouble putting gas in my 98 grand caravan sport a few weeks ago other than the price of gas. they changed all the nozzles in my area to the type with a corrugated rubber sheath that seals against the filler neck. i can pump a few gallons and then the nozzle shuts off. i need to remove the nozzle reinsert it and start pumping again. i need to repeat this process about 5 times to fill my tank 17-18 gallons. is there some type of pressure valve or vent that is blocked jon the trouble may be in the new vapor recovery system at the station not your caravan. the vapor recovery system is supposed to seal the tank filler spout and suck up the vapor as it is displaced by the gasoline in the tank. if the vapor recovery system is not working the vapor builds up pressure in the tank as fuel is pumped into it. after so much pressure build up the nozzle kicks off. the easy way to test for this is to start filling the tank. after a few gallons pull back on the rubber boot without moving the nozzle. if it blows vapor then you have a pressure build up caused by a bad vapor recovery system at the station. another way to test this is to try a different gas stations pumps with the same style boot and see if it pumps the way it is supposed to. if it does there is probably a problem with the vapor recovery system at the first station you were using. fmb only one b in fmb .

hello. im trying to track down the source of a check-engine inducing fault code 25 being reported by my trucks smec. ive done some research and have learned that code 25 involves the automatic idle speed control circuit. heres what ive done so far to try and resolve it... 1 verified no vacuum leaks. 2 cleaned electrical contacts on the ais motor and on the smec. 3 verified the integrity of the wires leading from the smec to the ais motor. whats next should i disassemble and lubricate the ais motor can i check it with a multimeter to see if the motor and the limit switch believe its called a nose switch are good or should i just replace the thing also is it possible that the smec itself is bad thanks jason .

here is the situation i have a 98 4 cylinder dakota. actually my wife does. well i go to check the oil the other day and find oil on the underside of the hood and all over the passenger side of the engine. i check the oil and find nothing but a chocolate milkshake substance all the way up to the dipstick opening. first thought was blown headgasket but i have no clue how that would happen. the truck has never overheated no detrimental running issues no smoking the coolant is perfect. someone told me to watch out for a cracked head but they dont just crack for no reason. any clues. i dont have the time to tear this motor apart 2 car-2 job family. any one hear of this happening or care to shed some light here thanks ken .

i usually agree with red except in his politics. lol i dont have any politics except kill them all let god sort them out or well maybe allah!!!!!!!!!! you can run the fluid through the radiator first then the cooler at least the fluid is getting cooled instead of heated. the problem is what happens when you have a transmission fail and the debris goes into the radiator cooler there is no way to flush it out same problem with auxiliary coolers ive bypassed the radiator and also ran it through the radiator cooler and then to an auxiliary cooler never noticed a bit of difference. never burned up a torqueflite towing either way even towing to bakersfield in the summer. sometimes it was so warm almost turned the heater on for some cool air!!!! anyone who routes the cooling lines to the auxiliary cooler then to the radiator cooler is really unclear on the concept but then trans shop owners have to eat too politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .
