splitter seal $190.35 leaks rear diff service $59.95 leaks im a newbie so can someone tell me what the splitter seal is sounds like the transfer case output seal. common problem and for $190 id change them all day long the seal itself is about $10 and takes maybe 30 minutes at most to change out and thats a stretch time-wise. also is the differential service required at this time my mileage is 60k right now. yes the diff fluid should be changed and at that point the cover would be re-sealed to stop the leak assuming its from the seal on the diff cover and not the pinion seal. $60 for this isnt too horrible - but again its at most a 30 minute job with the oil costing about $8 and about $0.50 in permatex. throw in $3 for waste oil disposal fee and theyre getting about $50 for the labor. again - thats not too bad. its certainly a whole lot better than the splitter seal. .
