Durango Ball Joints --- grrrrr

Q: and they wonder why people buy foriegn cars! i have a 2001 durango with a clunk in the front when i turn at slow speed. this suv has 50000 miles on it. this is exactly what i had with my jeep grand cherokee at 27000 miles and it turned out to be ball joints. they told me it is a normal wear component not covered under warranty. i say fuck that. i have a 1989 porsche 911 with twice the miles on it and no problems and no replacement of major components yet. i have owned an array of japanese german and other vehicles with no components which wear out at under 40000 miles that werent covered under warranty. i understand brakes clutch & tires are not warranty but ball joint!!! you must be joking. these companies are a bunch of jokers. get it together chryco!!! i will buy japanese until the american auto manufacturers get their heads out of their asses and start producing a quality vehicle they are willing to back by a good warranty. sorry to those who are out of work because sales are down but bmw & mercedes are shipping record sales and they cover ball joints under warranty. pissed off at chryco .

would your mpg be in us gallons or imperial gallons i am considering a new full size four door doge ram 4x4. i would like it with a manual 5 speed. if anyone out there has a set-up like this could you give me some feed back as to how the gas mileage is how stiff the clutch may be how reliable it has been and if you have enjoyed it so far. thanks; ron ive got a 2003 qc 4x4 1500 with the 4.7 and 5 speed manual. i just hit 3000 miles on the odometer. the clutch is easier to push than in my wifes 99 honda accord but has a lot more travel. it shifts easily but does have a slight whine in the first 3 gears which i have found out is normal. i have got over 19 mpg on the highway and about 15 around town. no problems so far and i absolutely love this truck. i would hive liked to have had the hemi but it only comes with an automatic in the 1500 size. at least in 2003 model .

first off i never take these truck off-road so they should last even longer. and secondly they use shit materials with shit workmanship and shit quality standards which better explains why they wear at different rates and prematurely. maybe they could build them to last an average of 100000+ miles and then they may vary from say 50000-150000. the fact is they wont warranty parts that they know are crap and likely to fail early. ball joints are covered by toyota mazda & mercedes under warranty so why not chryco still pissed off at chryco so tell us how you can warranty an item subject to variable wear rates determined by whether or not proper maintenance is done by the type of driving and general driving conditions hint you cant. the fact that one vehicle wore them out in under 30000 miles and this on went 50000 proves you cant. -- budd cochran and they wonder why people buy foriegn cars! i have a 2001 durango with a clunk in the front when i turn at slow speed. this suv has 50000 miles on it. this is exactly what i had with my jeep grand cherokee at 27000 miles and it turned out to be ball joints. they told me it is a normal wear component not covered under warranty. i say fuck that. i have a 1989 porsche 911 with twice the miles on it and no problems and no replacement of major components yet. i have owned an array of japanese german and other vehicles with no components which wear out at under 40000 miles that werent covered under warranty. i understand brakes clutch & tires are not warranty but ball joint!!! you must be joking. these companies are a bunch of jokers. get it together chryco!!! i will buy japanese until the american auto manufacturers get their heads out of their asses and start producing a quality vehicle they are willing to back by a good warranty. sorry to those who are out of work because sales are down but bmw & mercedes are shipping record sales and they cover ball joints under warranty. pissed off at chryco .

not that i know of. -- budd cochran hello all we have an 01 durango65k mi and while searching for information on service 4wd light on a 2wd vehicle i noticed the ball joint issue. i even heard on local am radio that there have been several cases where customers tried and failed to get dodge to replace the ball joints. somewhere on this group was a link to the nhts....they have some of the correspondence b/t dodge and the customers/nhts. now that yous mention the clunk of the ball joint.......i think i am hearing it at times....shit. hey budd........my grandfather is a cochran. do you have relatives in texas ron there should be a nhts recall on dakota/durango ball joints. its a shame that they make such a great truck other then this weak link. you have to buy the upper control arm from the dealer to get the ball joint at $150 / side. the joints in my replacement arms are worn out again & the rubber bushings look very weathered1 moog lifetime is the way to go about $60 / side for the joint plus install. ... and they wonder why people buy foriegn cars! i have a 2001 durango with a clunk in the front when i turn at slow speed. this suv has 50000 miles on it. this is exactly what i had with my jeep grand cherokee at 27000 miles and it turned out to be ball joints. they told me it is a normal wear component not covered under warranty. i say fuck that. i have a 1989 porsche 911 with twice the miles on it and no problems and no replacement of major components yet. i have owned an array of japanese german and other vehicles with no components which wear out at under 40000 miles that werent covered under warranty. i understand brakes clutch & tires are not warranty but ball joint!!! you must be joking. these companies are a bunch of jokers. get it together chryco!!! i will buy japanese until the american auto manufacturers get their heads out of their asses and start producing a quality vehicle they are willing to back by a good warranty. sorry to those who are out of work because sales are down but bmw & mercedes are shipping record sales and they cover ball joints under warranty. pissed off at chryco --- outgoing mail is certified virus free. checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.525 / virus database 322 - release date 10/9/2003 .
