Q: tktqe.86464$es2.962847@twister.southeast.rr.com tbone t-bonenospam@nc.rr.com wrote how do you like the superduty got a good deal on a ford powerstroke. http//homepage.mac.com/yonzie/photoalbum4.html theres a pic of my ford. also picture of the dodge sitting on the carlot. it was sold three days later. both trucks are 3/4 tonnesautomatics leather diesels. the dodge was a laramine and the ford is a lairiat. the dodge had the standard output engine the 250 or whatever hp. i chipped the dodge this spring and that improved the power. but the 6 litre ford has plenty of power. the ford has more leg room in the rear cab then the dodge. the dodge has a built in garage door opener that the superdutys dont have. had to go and clip my old opener on the viser. the dodge had a compartment under the back seats and another compartment under the front middle seat where the center armrest goes down. the dodge had more storage space for smaller items. the tranny on the dodge was poor shifting the ford shifts a lot nicer. i liked the cummins straight six dont know too much about the powerstroke. the cummins is still a better engine. on highway driving i would get 20 to 22 miles per gal in cdn. i dont know what that be in american gals. the cdn gal has 4.54 litres and an american has 3.8 litres to a gal. next day after getting the ford made a highway trip. drove at different speeds alternated between 55 to 65 then to 75 got 19 miles per gal. i was quite happy with that. the truck only had 100 miles on it. the engine oil filter will be nice to change on the ford. it sits on top of the engine. on the cummins it was on the side of the engine. too high up to get it from the underneath. so id take the turbo hose off that comes from the air box to make it easier to get to the filter. you had to be careful to get it out without spilling oil all over. then i came with an idea. loosen the oil filter then slip a plastic bag under it. spin the filter off and it drops into the bag. no oil spills. the dodge box narrows down towards the endgate. i had a round 250 gal water tank that used to fit in a 2001 dodge. but in 2003 they redesigned the dodge/ the tank would fit inside the truck box but to empty the tank i would slide it out of the box onto the endgate and tilt it over to drain it. with the narrowing at the back of the truck box the tank couldnt slide out. i had to buy a rectangleur tank to fit into the dodge. the ford has brighter headlites then the dodge. nice bright high beams. the spot lights those that are at the bottom oof the bumper on the dodge where better then the fords. the fords are closer together. the dodges are wider apart and light up the sides at nite a lot better. 2005 fords had suspension changed on the front ride a lot better then the dodge. i had weights on the back of the dodge that improved the ride when i first got the dodge. but the ford still rides better even without any weight. i have backup warning system on the fords bumper. sure like that. dodge doesnt even offer that option. will let you know more as to how the ford is running. dale .

the problem is as i see it cnn and cnbc is that it will be far longer than a few days as you seem to think. many oil platforms have been shut down and will require some repairs to return to full output and even after they do there seems to be extensive damage to the transportation network which could take months to repair. except that.... la. isnt the only terminus. hurricane reports on katrina have been coming in for almost two weeks enough time to prepare and have a reserve. lol a reserve for how long max. these refineries could be down for months and who knows how long it will take to fully repair the infrastructure. and btw they had days not weeks to prepare. typically dozens of tankers sit waiting for a place to offload. sure and where are they going to offload too storage tanks on land are for what if not to store product in the event of needing to buffer a supply. yea a buffer for a few days or even weeks not months. granted oil companies tend to jack prices when they feel like it but.... anyone looking at the futures market knows that they are raising prices in a reaction to the market price of oil. not only do you have to look at the futures market max you actually have to understand it and from what you are saying you dont. fact is its demand on the futures market pushing the price. why because people are buying oil that doesnt exist yet as a commodity. and realistically if i said to you hey ill pay you more than market price for that widget you are making and ill buy five of them even though you havent got them yet. what are ya gonna sell it for market price or my offer and if you sell me a bunch of those widgets what price am i gonna sell them for more than what i paid or market price and if i buy five widgets at a time you are probably gonna make as many as you can to keep up with my demand so long as im buying. if it were only this simple. first of all the only way that people could drive uip the price this way is if the supplies are limited which according to you they are not. then there is a significant risk of loss driving up the price in a market that has a ready supply because someone else can sell below what you even paid for it is supplies are plentyful. this is only the beginning and i really dont have the time to list out point by point why this is wrong and you really need to do a little reading. the only thing that i will say that the only way for the futures of something to be driven up like this is because the near future availability of of the item is believed to be in short supply. plenty of widgets but the price is determined by the investor not the market. and the spiral goes on..... the price is always determined by the market max. if people will not pay the price that you want then you lose money. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

td wrote im trying to get self prepared for a power steering pump replacement on a 1999 dodge grand caravan v6 3.0l. im reading that it is a p.i.t.a. job pain in the a$$. im armed with the hayes repair manual a little common sense basic tools and an instruction guide from this link http//www.cardone.com/english/club/products/steering/protech/installinstructions/93062720.asp ive also been scanning the groups and im surprised that there arent more posts on this considering the hole rusted through in 6 only years of use. i am surprised too - ive never had a ps pump rust through. i guess it was no match for the wi salt. regular underbody and engine compartment cleaning can reduce salt corrosion on any car. i found a post that hits it dead on but it lacks information and the poster doesnt go into detail about installing. he mainly says how hard the pump was to get off. see it at this link history i discovered the leak for about 4 weeks ago. it leaves about a 12 spot of fluid every 10 hour sitting. out of desperation i tried one of those stop leak juices. in fact 3 full bottles. ive never used any type of stop leak remedy before because i feel they just dont work. well... as expected it didnt. they are designed to make leaking seals work a bit longer not plug holes. barrs leak works sometimes on radiators but i wouldnt recommend it for power steering pumps. last night i finally took a peek under the van and saw the bottom of the pump casing is bubbly with rust. i can actually watch droplets of power steering fluid form where the rust is the weakest. i took pictures of the pump and would be willing to post them upon request. i cant see paying $575 $212 + $350 labor + tax for a job that i can maybe do my own. it will cost me $100 for the part on the internet and im guessing a full saturday of sweat and aggravation. i just called the shop and the price of $350 for labor doesnt include replacing of the hoses. the tech said we dont replace the hoses unless theres something wrong with them. they can last the life of the car. questions can anyone please please provide any tips that will help how long average should it take to do a job like this or how long did it take you to do it dont know of a source for averages. the more experienced you are with tools such as wrenches and sockets and knowlegeable about automotive repair the less time it will take. any special tools for the pully what could reasonably be removed to make the job easier you are going to have to look at the job and figure that out. varies from car to car. the haynes book should be of help - follow the directions. is it really worth replacing the hoses ordinarily i would not replace them. since the pump resided an environment corrosive enough to rust through the pump body i would expect some weakening of those hoses too. i would give some thought to replacement. any replies would be appreciated. thanks tim .

i had only high speed and when selecting a slower speed the fan would stop and also thurn off the ac pump.i found a circuit card where i expected to find a card with resisters.cannot tell if it good or bad.after putting it back in i now have no fan at all but the ac pump will stay on 2001 dodge dakota club cab/v6 help hmmm i believe the rheostat is in the fan switch itself. perhaps your fan died. it shouldnt be too hard to check. .
