on sun 25 sep 2005 010940 -0400 jem sami6@hotmail.com wrote i drove one of those in the early 70 they were permentaly assigned to each trooper and the cause back then for the occasionaly internal hot dog roast was the lack of insulation between the floor board slop / fire wall and the engine compartment. they were some fast cars and sounded hot as well. made our fords look like old lady cars sorry ladies. jem yeah the dodges were very fast but mostly just straight line fast. the fords handled a little better but were no where near as fast. remember turning the air cleaner cover upside down so it could suck in more air hopefully their new ones wont spontaneously ignite like the 1980 st regis cruisers did. their wiring harnesses werent heavy enough for the police related equipment. many departments lost cruisers while their emergency lights and radios were operating. anyone here have info on contacting dodge for info and pricing on police package vehicles our local sheriff and police departments are looking to buy new vehicles and would like to at least compare dodge to the quotes they already have. -- max give a man a match and he is warm for a short while. light him on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life. .

jerrym wrote i posted this earlier with a picture attached and i didnt realize that it was 600k sorry bout that dial-up folks i took the head off my 97 ram 4x4 360 to look at the #8 cylinder since the plug was discolored and it has a miss. here is a picture of the valves. they are both covered with yellowish-orange deposits. i see no visible cracks and am guessing that the gasket was blown but only slightly. am i barking up the right tree or at least in the right forrest -jerry you can see the picture at http//xs47.xs.to/pics/05380/number8valves.jpg on close inspection of the picture at high mag i see no sign of a blown head gasket but i do see signs of the intake valve being burnt and causing your problem. the valve color is different because cylinder is running colder from valve problem and nothing more. ----------------- www.thesnoman.com .

hello... couple questions for the transmission gurus around here. first off my truck is a 2000 ram ctd quadcab shortbed 3.55 gears all stock 61000 miles. i plan on doing the 60k service which includes transmission fluid filter and adjust bands. the transmission seems fine...upshifts and downshifts great and no shudder or slippage. after talking to a couple shops seems like i have 2-3 alternatives to attack the transmission. 1 drop pan and change filter reinstall and add fluid.could also have shop lower valve body to get even more fluid out. 2 leave pan installed and use a flush machine to circulate new +4 oil into the tranny. 3a local shop suggested using their flush machine to circulateclean and refill using atf+3 and a friction modifier lubeguard 63010 the shop owner has a ram and said thats all hes ever done to his truck and its fine.he even went as far as to say lubeguard gaurantees my transmission after the product is installed. my choice so far is number 2....seems like using brand new oil throughout the tranny would be besteven though there is a downside of not changing the screen. my concern with this approach also is the flush machine connections at the cooler. is there any chance of damage to connections or possibly loosening something that could cause engine coolant to contaminate transmission oil next question...do my bands need attention even if it seems to shift fine sorry for the long post and alsothanks in advance for taking time for me. they better use atf+4 as per the tsb it replaces atf+3. do not let a shop talk you into any thing different. i had mine done at the $tealer for $99.00 total. -- coasty remove the spooge to reply .
