Dodge Ram wont shift into overdrive on cold winter days?

Q: the ones you really need to watch out for are the ones w/ the bumper sticker i have pms -- and a gun. bryan ^ redneck tookover hell enlightened how brave are you i was riding to work yesterday when i observed a female driver cut right in front of a pickup truck causing him to have to drive on to the shoulder to avoid hitting her. this evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and flipped the woman off. man that guy is stupid i thought to myself. i always smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic and heres why i drive 48 miles each way every day to work. thats 96 miles each day. of these 16 miles each way is bumper-to-bumper. most of the bumper-to-bumper is on an 4 lane highway. there are 7 cars every 40 feet for 32 miles. that works out to be 982 cars every mile or 31424 cars. even though the rest of the 32 miles is not bumper-to-bumper i figure i pass at least another 4000 cars. that brings the number to something like! 36000 cars that i pass every day. statistically females drive half of these. thats 18000 women drivers! in any given group of females 1 in 28 has pms. thats 642. according to cosmopolitan 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying or unrewarding thats 449. according to the national institute of health 22% of all females have seriously considered suicide or homicide. thats 98. and 34% describe men as their biggest problem. thats 33. according to the national rifle association 5% of all females carry weapons and this number is increasing. that means that every single day i drive past at least one female that has a lousy love life thinks men are her biggest problem has seriously considered suicide or homicide has pms and is armed. flip one off ..... i think not. politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

check your battery. as strange as it sounds that is what was wrong with mine when it was acting similar to yours. it wasnt holding a good charge and was making one of the computers act up. test on sat 27 dec 2003 170341 -0600 dale simpson daleandlaura at charter dot net wrote hello everybody there seems to be a tremendous wealth of knowledge here so i hope you will be able to help me diagnose my problem. the problem is that my dakota will sometimes start right up and then shut right down again. almost like it is trying to idle too low or something. also on my way to work the other day it stalled 3 times on me in the parking lot it usually only stalls on startup. most of the time when i have stalling problems is when i am low on gas but today i have a half tank of gas and i cant get the truck to stay running. i just put a bottle of isoheat in it but havent had a chance to run it through. granted the truck hasnt moved since wednesday but it hasnt been cold or anything and i keep it garaged. could it be the fuel filter water in the fuel or is it something in the electronics please any help will be greatly appreciated!! tia dale .

from mopar440@aol.comnet.org redneck tookover hell date 1/29/2004 708 pm central standard time btw i dont think anyone involved in this deal is attempting to cheat anyone i think both of us are just naive. thanks again for the education robert maybe not but i cant imagine someone who knows they are selling their vehicle not going down to the lien/security/title holder and telling them so the title can be released at the appropriate time. i think ive got a handle of the problem i believe its a logistical issue. the lien holder is a credit union in nevada i dont know the name of it yet i should find out today. this credit union doesnt have a local presence in oregon. so the actual title is in nevada. when i thought he had clear title i was going to do a cash deal now that i know he doesnt and btw hes upside down on this loan surprise btdt. i think the best thing to do is assume his loan just let him pay it down to the purchase price and take it over. failing in that ill harass my local banker for a loan today. it should be a very busy day today. i leave sunday for oregon and then ive got all week next week to complete the sale. youre right this is a big hassle if id known going in well i wouldnt have gone in. now that ive bought non-refundable tickets and arranged for time off ill stick it out. thanks to everyone i appreciate every response ive received. robert .

im not talking about the screen filter. im talking about the inline filter or even possibly the carb filter if installed and btw with a predominantly clogged filter it would normally run for a few minutes and then shut off. if that happened then how does it run at all. you do realize that the filter is always at the bottom of the tank. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving sounds like your fuel filter. when you ran it dry you picked up the trash in the bottom of the tank and filled the filter. are you sure that it ran dry or did the problem just happen to start when you almost out of fuel good point! -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving these are all great ideas--ill give them a try. nobody thinks it has anything to do with running out of gas problem didnt start until i ran it dry. thanks everyone! corodbaman hi group-- hello! been away for while need some advice... my 82 w150 318 2 bbl 105k miles ran out of gas a while back. filled er with gas changed the fuel filter and went on my way. truck died after running 15 minutes. replaced the fuel pump check the line between the carb and the pump--was clean. truck will fire right up cold but dies still after 15 minutes. let it sit a while starts up dies after 15 minutes. any ideas where to start looking for the problem maybe someone pulled a prank and wired a timer in-line some where! thanks! cordobaman .

yeah. ;- somebody else pointed out that the 48re was a joint engineering project between chryco and mercedes after the germans bought the company. interesting then that they kept the same basic design rather than re-engineer everything like they did on the 545rfe. hell if it holds up i really dont care how its built .

fortune magazine had pictures of some new american vehicles getting ready to go into production. a couple of them from dodge and chrysler. apparently the intrepid is going away to be replaced by the dodge magnum though i cant see how this could be so; how do you replace a sedan with a wagon or does the magnum come in both wagon and sedan models. looks like a station wagon with very low cabin height compared to the vehicle sides. not too bad looking and obtainable with a v-8 although i presume the basic vehicle would come with a 6. seems a slightly smaller looking pacific. nice wheels from the photo and something if it came in ad i might consider as a replacement to my 1500 which is overkill for me now that i dont tow a boat any more. ive been wishing the american manufacturers would make something along the lines of the volvo cross country wagon. perhaps the magnum is it or maybe a four door dakota with a cap on the short bed. and what the heck is that chrysler 300c i cant see that thing going very far! got a grill on it that would be intimidating even to a current style ram! smh yeah the intrepid/concorde platform is going away which is a mistake imho also. while the magnum and 300c are neat cars they do not fit the niche of family car and that leaves d/c lacking in that department. also both are rwd and the american people are now conditioned to front-wheel drive and its superior handling in snow and ice and will find that the new ones are lacking in that regard also. i hope it works well though i have my doubts. mike .

dont feel badi have a 96 doing exactly the same thing. i did notice that i could let it sit and idle all day but once i drove it a certain distance it would mess up just as you describe. yours may not be flooding as mine doesnt get any fuel into the fuel rail when it acts up but the pump can still be heard running when it does this so i bet thats what yours is doing too. i put a new coil on after i was told that was the problem but it wasnt. the voltage to the fuel pump seems good too so im not going to put a $200+ pump in it until absolutely positive. my next try is going to be the magnetic pickup under the distributor for shits & giggles as i have a new one available so well see. im just not in the mood to play with that damn cap/rotor again tough to get at...but i will. hello...i have a 1995 dodge 4x4. recently after a trip down the freeway i turned off and started up a mountain highway and suddenly my truck seemed to lose all power. i pulled off the road and it sat and idled but it was running very badly. if i tried to give it gas it would act as though it was flooding...it would begin to rev up but after it got to a certain point it would run very bad. i called a tow truck and while waiting i started it back up and it seemed to be running normal. i drove back off the mountain and met the tow truck at the freeway. he followed me back home almost 20 miles at which point it did the same again. we put it on his tow truck and he carried me the rest of the way to his shop. when we started the truck to remove it from the tow truck it ran beautifully and hasnt had another episode since...but ive not driven it any farther than about 5 miles from my house. ive searched the google groups for like problems and possible answers...until i came across this group. im hoping someone here can assist me with the problem. i did take the truck to a local repair shop where they let it run almost all day in order to get hot and happen again but it didnt happen and he has no idea what it might be... probably wasnt good for it to sit and run all day im not sure. anyway any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks for any assistance! bill .

hi group-- hello! been away for while need some advice... my 82 w150 318 2 bbl 105k miles ran out of gas a while back. filled er with gas changed the fuel filter and went on my way. truck died after running 15 minutes. replaced the fuel pump check the line between the carb and the pump--was clean. truck will fire right up cold but dies still after 15 minutes. let it sit a while starts up dies after 15 minutes. snip well we got enough snow that i had to chance plowing--and the truck ran fine for about 40 minutes. not believing the problem went away i replaced the ignition coil swapped out the distributor an in-warranty re-man new cap/rotor and used a can-o carb clener. truck fired up quickly and seemed to run better. no stalling so far--keep fingers crossed. thanks for the tips! cordobaman .

i just saw where before you can legally move to north carolina you have to be able to pass this!!!!!!!!! better start studying!!!!!!!!! bg subject southern engineerng exam ahem! being and engineer and from the south this is a piece of cake! mike my friends in the south are sick and tired of hearing about how dumb people are in the south. therefore they challenge any so-called smart yankee to take and pass this exam administered by the university of arkansas engineering department 1. calculate the smallest limb diameter on a persimmon tree that will support a 10-pound possum. 1.735 2. which of these cars will rust out the quickest when placed on blocks in your front yard a 65 ford fairlane a 69 chevrolet chevelle or a 64 pontiac gto the pontiac 3. if your uncle builds a still which operates at a capacity of 20 gallons of shine produced per hour how many car radiators are required to condense the product the minimum required would be seven. two from a 56 ford f-100 pickup three from a 54 nash and two from a 52 hudson hornet. 4. a woodcutter has a chainsaw which operates at 2700 rpm. the density of the pine trees in the plot to be harvested is 470 per acre. the plot is 2.3 acres in size. the average tree diameter is 14 inches. how many budweisers will be consumed before the trees are cut down aha!! trick question! the answer is zero! everyone knows that it takes 36 pabst blue ribbons per acre! 5. if every old refrigerator in the state vented a charge of r-12 simultaneously what would be the percentage of depletion of the ozone layer ..000126 6. a front porch is constructed of 2x8 pine on 24-inch centers with a field rock foundation. the span is 8 feet and the porch length is 16 feet. the porch floor is 1-inch rough sawn pine. when the porch collapses how many hound dogs will be killed six...... two blue ticks and four black and tans! 7. a man owns a tennessee house and 3.7 acres of land in a hollow with an average slope of 15%. the man has five children. can each of his grown children place a mobile home on the mans land and still have enough property for their electric appliances to sit out front yes..... but it will take 136 concrete blocks to get the trailers sorta level! 8. a 2-ton truck is overloaded and proceeding 900 yards down a steep slope on a secondary road at 45 mph. the brakes fail. given average traffic conditions on secondary roads what is the probability that it will strike a vehicle with a muffler zip zilch zero nada.... however the odds of a collison with a vehicle with a gun rack is a near certainty. 9. a coal mine operates a nfpa class 1 division 2 hazardous area. the mine employs 120 miners per shift. a gas warning is issued at the beginning of the 3rd shift. how many cartons of unfiltered camels will be smoked during the shift 2.4 10. at a reduction in the gene pool variability rate of 7.5% per generation how long will it take a town which has been bypassed by the interstate to breed a country-western singer male 2.46 years female 3.76 years assuming the ability to carry a tune is not a requirement politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. . 222 276949 20040131170822.24654.00001167@mb-m16.aol.com from roy roy@home.net date 1/30/2004 915 am central standard time robert ive bought a bunch of cars interstate mostly corvettes but never sight unseen. also never would think about a deal without being very sure that the seller has their shit together. sounds to me that it is being driven by emotion and not common sense. there has to be a truck that would satisfy your needs closer and within your financial means. you aked for advice and whatever. here it is run dont walk away from this deal. it is too fucked up. if it was in your hometown it would be a pia. hey roy and everybody else im still a bit leary but the biggest obstacle is taken care of now. the seller called me about 30 minutes ago he says he now has clear title. i dont know what kind of hoops he had to jump through to accomplish this dont really care he had to do it anyway to sell it. im under no real obligation to buy the truck as you say i havent seen it yet. but i will tomorrow by this time. only after ive inspected it thorougly will i go ahead with this deal. i expect now that ill leave portland on monday or tuesday to drive home im looking forward to that as i love to drive and ive never been there before. i expect the trip to take three days yeah i know if i was younger two days barring weather or truck problems. when this deal

check the fuel line for split rubber hose connections even back at the tank. make sure the fuel tank is venting correctly you can just loosen the gas cap. a fuel pressure gauge would help verify the fuel system. if not the fuel system it could be almost anything in the ignition system. may even be a vacuum leak hi group-- hello! been away for while need some advice... my 82 w150 318 2 bbl 105k miles ran out of gas a while back. filled er with gas changed the fuel filter and went on my way. truck died after running 15 minutes. replaced the fuel pump check the line between the carb and the pump--was clean. truck will fire right up cold but dies still after 15 minutes. let it sit a while starts up dies after 15 minutes. any ideas where to start looking for the problem maybe someone pulled a prank and wired a timer in-line some where! thanks! cordobaman .
