had the same problem with my 99 4x4 ram it is the fuel pump has low presure .. i had mine replaced and it fixed more than just that problem .it help my mpg also good luck.- i myself dont let mine get much below 1/2 tank. an added bonus to that is the sticker shock isnt so bad with the rising fuel costs. i know i can just refuel when the light comes on but thats not the point. im running out of gas before i hit empty get a wooden stick cut some notches in it. just use that instead of the gauge and light or do as i do. fill up your gas tank when it gets to a quarter tank. what happens if you are on empty and an emergency arises that requires you to drive somewhere on a moments notice. if you have allowed the gas to get that low very often it could be wearing the sensors for the mechanical fuel gauge as well as the digital overhead one. imho hawkeye ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

the compass display is located behind a cover at the front of the headliner above the windshield mirror. display is standard eight quadrants n ne e se etc. problem on a recent trip to new england into the deep freeze the display quit showing ne e se and s. it will only display n nw its favorite w and sw. any ideas on the cause and fix a friend told me that modern compasses no longer use a rotating magnetic metal strip but have stationary magnetic points around the compass rose. if true your thoughts please regarding location of the device and the recalibration procedure. otherwise any other comments on whats wrong and how to fix it. adn .

look at the red round tag on the transfer case 231 is part time & 242 is full time. it should say on the glove box option list also. five detents should be 242 ft. it most likely has the wrong knob. dick hi i just purchased a 1999 durango with the 5.9l and 4 wheel drive. according to the owners manual there are two options for the transercase in this vehicle. 1 2h4hn4l 2 2h 4pt4ftn4lpt i cannot tell which one i have and heres why 1. you can physically feel 5 detents in the transfer case shifter. 2. the sticker on the sun visor refers to 2h4pt4ftn4lpt 3. the dash lights consist of a yellow 4 part time light and a green 4 full time light or no light for 2h. this all seems to indicate that i have the second transfer case that i listed. the main item that makes me un sure is that the knob on the transfercase shifter only lists 2h4hn4l. i am begining to wonder if maybe the knob or the sun visor were replaced with the wrong one. also after going into any 4 wheel drive mode and then shifting to 2h the 4pt light stays on even though it is not in 4 wheel drive. if you shut the car off and go out the next day the light is off. if you shut the car off and then restart it the light stays on. i think this is just a mis adjusted position indicator switch but im not sure. any help would be appreciated. thanks rob .

have an 84 dodge ram 150 p/u... current project truck. have something drawing current off the battery with truck sitting still no keys in the ignition nothing lights etc. on. current assumptions of course include short in wiring somewhere. have visually checked for cut/broken/shorted wiring... to no avail. looking for advice on best way to search for this source of the problem... help lol! thanks!!! .

thanks everyone for the help. funny how one small error wiring it like a 440 can make a 30 minute job take all day. mnkt is definately running sweet now. the only thing i feel it needs at this point is more carb and a couple mufflers stock exhaust is true duals been a long time since ive seen that!. the acceleration is great certainly more than i would expect from a 2 barrel 318 on a 1 1/4 ton truck with full time 4x4. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .
