craig wrote yes the new 48re 2003 has been problem free for me and everyone else that i know of. i havent heard or read one complaint. you could go with a 6-speed manual and not worry about it at all ... craig c. the jury is still out on that issue. i am not convinced myself. if you plan soem serious towing with a cummins i would go for a manual tranny. the only really good tranny out there right now with a good track record is the allison in gm dmax and 8.1 powered trucks. it is a much better tow tranny with a oil birner and has a deepr first and revesre gear than the dodge tranny too. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-cummins-diesel-ftopict135491.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=657804 .

torque 330 lb-ft nope thats a screw up lowest rated dodge cummins ive ever seen was 400 lb.-ft. this sounds like a gas engine rating to me. i dug out my letter from chrysler and it reads horse power 175 kw 235bhp@4000 rpm torque 447n-m 330 lb-ft@3000 rpm so how does that translate into 180 hp jay wrote sorry i ment to say doesnt mean jack crap. horsepower is nothing more than an expression of torque diluted by rpm. .
