Disable Panic Alarm?

From : woody

Q: in my 4 weeks of owning a new ram 2500 i have been embarrassed 3 times by the panic alarm going off because the button was accidentally depressed with the remote in my pocket. today it was when sitting in a meeting with the truck parked outside. i hate car alarms in general and was really surprised to find that i was the idiot this time i do like the remote keyless entry concept but would really like to disable that panic button. there is no security alarm system here just the remote that is standard on a slt the manual does not have disable instructions and the dealer says that the alarm cant be disabled and after all it is a safety feature. safe from what peace and quiet anyway while the auto door locking crap was easy to disable my choices on the panic alarm seem to be 1. dont use the keyless remote at all; 2. open up the remote and do some surgery.. any other ideas woody .

you can open up the remote same as changing the battery and put a some tape over the panic contacts or take a xacto knife and cut the trace to the contact for a more long term solution. on wed 05 may 2004 182408 -0400 woody ars1@ttlc.net wrote in my 4 weeks of owning a new ram 2500 i have been embarrassed 3 times by the panic alarm going off because the button was accidentally depressed with the remote in my pocket. today it was when sitting in a meeting with the truck parked outside. i hate car alarms in general and was really surprised to find that i was the idiot this time i do like the remote keyless entry concept but would really like to disable that panic button. there is no security alarm system here just the remote that is standard on a slt the manual does not have disable instructions and the dealer says that the alarm cant be disabled and after all it is a safety feature. safe from what peace and quiet anyway while the auto door locking crap was easy to disable my choices on the panic alarm seem to be 1. dont use the keyless remote at all; 2. open up the remote and do some surgery.. any other ideas woody .
