Diesel overheating

Q: white is water coolant blue is oil and black is fuel. larry hi i have white gas-smelling smoke coming from the valve cover when i remove the oil filler cap. could i be burning coolant and it just smells like this because of the route its taking or am i burning coolant and something else is wrong i am getting a code 13 map sensor vacuum circuit. could this be the cause also how do i reset check engine after making corrections i have driven back and forth several times in the driveway. is that enough to do it i cant tell if i fixed the problems or i just need to be reset. white smoke usually indicates oil while black is fuel. tia -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com .

hi guys i have a problem with my 1996 dodge ram 2500 with the cummins diesel. it started about 2 months ago and i have not been able to pinpoint it. it did happen about 3 yrs ago but only lasted 2 weeks and everything worked good till 2 months ago. it is an intermittent problem worst when i have a load or the engine is working harder or on bumpy roads. it does not do it while idling. here goes the description the worst problem is the tack jumping up and down usually down and back to normal but sometimes lately it will go up in the red line zone. if it is really bad the speedometer also jumps up and down. the rest of the problem are lights coming on when they should not the engine light the gen light water in fuel light wait to start light and the cruise control comes on. i cannot use the cruise control because it keeps going off. the only visible problem which i sprayed with corrosion x an aircraft anti corrosive that is excellent for electrical problem was a little green deposits on the center plug of the computer behind the air filter. i am starting to believe it might be a heavy wire on the alternator bracket i believe it is the sensor for the tack and cruise control. this unit was taped but it seem like it has gotten hot and most of the tape has fallen off. other than the tape the rest of the unit looks in perfect condition. any suggestions thanks eric .

ive had a 1999 dodge ram cummins for 5 years now and have noticed that whenever i pull my 25 camper in temperatures above 93 degrees f. it overheats. is this a common problem i bought the dodge so i can pull my camper in any temperatures and obviously the dodge isnt cutting in. any recommendations chevy ford try servicing your coolant system dumbass before opening your big fucking mouth. -- ------moparman------ ---scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92989 west--- --remove clothes to reply!-- tedward said eggs are really good for you. they have all the nutrition needed to make a chicken. .

surprised it fits in either direction but the code still comes up. im not sure how the vacuum lines should be connected the diagram doesnt help me much but there cant be many combinations as they all come form the same source anyway. is that correct the ant-lock and brake warning lights are on in the dash as well. could that just be from inactivity thanks for the input! the ant-lock and brake warning lights are controlled by a seperate brake computer. the codes for its problems can be pulled as well by connecting certain wires and counting the blinking brake light. see your manual. beekeep . 222 339596 rwgoi.95$nh4.36@fe09..easy.com on sun 07 oct 2007 212715 -0500 d wrote ive had a 1999 dodge ram cummins for 5 years now and have noticed that whenever i pull my 25 camper in temperatures above 93 degrees f. it overheats. is this a common problem i bought the dodge so i can pull my camper in any temperatures and obviously the dodge isnt cutting in. any recommendations chevy ford is this a recent change it may be something as simple as trash stopping up the radiator/inter cooler fins and restricting air flow. very common problem. i say stick with a proven engine cummins and stay away from junk duramax and powerstroke .
