i dont think you will be doing that this weekend....the fuel filter is part of the pump....in the tank!!! it is sold seperatly but not a recommended maintenance part i am going to change my fuel filter this weekend and wondering if there are any extra needed tools to change it it is a 2003 dodge ram 1500. can i just take the old filter out and install the new one seems like i would have to rebuild the pressure .

robin andrepont wrote blocks air to the radiator. remember your transmission fluid gets cooled there too. my neighbor takes his truck to the shop once a year because of transmission problems. i keep telling him to take that bug screen off but he wont listen. the cummins trucks have a separate transmission cooler thats mounted low in the drivers side fog light area at least 99 models do. i dont think a screen over the grill would have much effect on the trans temp. .

after you get where you are going with the rv in tow you un-hook and drive your truck 3500 or your pick-up 2500 around for general transportation. i rv with a friend that drives a 2001 ferd f-250... when he went from his 28 tt to a 36 5er he put in a good set of air shocks and loves em... he says that when hes not towing he brings the pressure down and the truck rides and handles better than ever.. afaik the only difference between the 2500 and 3500 250/350 is stiffer shocks on the 1 ton... and theyre not fun when youre traveling empty... he basically made a good riding 1 ton out of his 3/4... mac please remove splinters before emailing .

i was told that it caused too much air flow and the air conditioner would suffer because of overheating the compressor with causes excessive high pressures and leads to early burn out. i am curious as to how a screen over the condensor can cause too much airflow if anything a screen will restrict airflow somewhat perhaps causing the symptoms you describe. i thnk a screen in front of the condensor would be ok provided the mesh is not too small. i would also use an aluminum screen vs the nylon type that is now sold because i dont know how well the nylon would hold up if it comes in contact with a hot condensor or in your case intercooler. chryco service manager member sae hugh daykin wrote i have recently been advised that it is not a good idea to place a screen over the grille of my cummins diesel. i would appreciate hearing from the experts on this subject. im certainly no expert but why would it be a bad idea overheating are you trying to protect the grill or just the radiator if its for the radiator i would put the screen behind the grill and keep an eye on the temp gage for a while. .

although ive had my diesel truck for just a couple of months ive kept my eye on diesel fuel costs for the past year knowing i was in the market. generally diesel has been priced at or about the cost of premium. but here in kc ive noticed the price of diesel has been at $1.79 which is the cost of our regular leaded gas +/- .05. hopefully it stays that way... david i wish it was that way in oregon as it runs anywhere from 10-20 cents more than unleaded $2.03 cheapest to $2.19 on the same day at different stations. i cannot figure out why diesel costs more than unleaded when i hear it requires less refining. i did read that the rush on fuel oil may spike the price but it has been higher since august when i bought my first diesel truck. august/september is about the time the refineries switch over to fuel oil production and that is usually when diesel goes up. i would look for prices to begin moderating about now and then begin to drop around march/april. mike .
