Diesel engine idling
From : earthman
Q: not increasing the rpms and leaving your truck idle i heard its not to good on it. does anyone know the why also is there a length of time that would be acceptable/harmful to a diesel to idle the concern with extended idling is that combustion chamber temperatures drop off because so little fuel is being used when a diesels idling which will result in incomplete combustion leaving some unburned fuel in the cylinders. this fuel will wash down the cylinder walls diluting or removing the oil and cause excessive wear to the rings and/or cylinder walls as well as contaminating the oil with diesel fuel over time. this is why on big rigs they have an idle up feature because guys will idle them for hours on end especially when its a cold night. for our engines id say over 15-20 minutes would be considered extended idling and should be avoided. but for the time it takes to run in and pay for fuel lunch restrooms whatever - not a problem. .

subject says it all - how do you remove the coat hanger that is above the rear seat drivers side i need to get access to the top of the window. 2002 durango slt. not sure specifically on the durango but the hangers on the rams no reason theyd use a different style are a two-piece unit. look carefully and youll see a seam between the two halves. separate the two halves fingernail screwdriver pocket knife etc. and the jaws that grab inside the hole in the sheetmetal will collapse allowing you to remove it. .

steve lusardi wrote ron the lamp is only one problem the housing is the next. in europe the radiation pattern required is different than in america consequently the reflectors are different as well. steve i visited there but they dont have e-approved lamps i think that nobody has make that kind of lamps for ram so i need to invent something else from other car lamps. thank for all for answering my question. what makes them e-approved maybe things like amber turn signals and turn signals that stay on but dont flash when vehicle is parked on roadside not running ..... both things my cortina had. ron thanks for all for your hints to find lamps for my truck. i have found other way to go around this. .

lol yet another law that is just about impossible to enforce. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving wont matter in a few years anyway. many states are enacting laws to make it illegal to idle any diesel for more than 5 minutes. already law in new york and cal. i believe it is in pa as well. -- steve williams as i traveled around this weekend i noticed a few guys at rest stops or travel centers who would leave there pickups idle while they ran in to take care of business. now i know that big rigs will leave there trucks on but i understand that when they do they crank up the rpms a hair. by not increasing the rpms and leaving your truck idle i heard its not to good on it. does anyone know the why also is there a length of time that would be acceptable/harmful to a diesel to idle ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-uncensored-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 120000+ groups ----= east and west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =---- .

sad to say that is true put in an aftermarket systemdoesnt have to be expensive just half decent and you will most likely recieve more than you did before. i have a 04 ram q cab with just the standard radio. i am in ct and the area is rather hilly. but..... some of the stations that formerly were received well in my other trucks are full of static. would a longer antenae mast cause the reception to get getter or is it just a lower quality radio jem its possible that dodge has been installing low quality german radios. many of the electrical components in their vehicles are now low quality german products. jam .
