Q: on sun 30 jan 2005 122914 gmt moparman scott.hendryx.clothes@sbcglobal.net wrote traded the 2003 2500hd hemi truck for a 2005 3500hd dually with the cummins 610 turbo d. im getting a bigger rv soon so i needed the bigger truck. as far as the 5.7 hemi truck went it was by far the best vehicle ive ever owned. fun to drive and yes the gas mileage sucked. i had it 2 years to damn near the day put 94k on it and never did nothing to it but normal mait. i did change the transmission fluid and rear end fluid more than recommended. it never burned a drop of oil and still ran like a bat outta hell.....im gonna miss it. someones gonna get a sweet truck. driving home in the dually i got 20 mpg hummmm im forgetting about the hemi already. youll be wondering why you ever bought the hemi after you pull your first grade towing with the cummins... that sucker just puts its shoulder into it and gets you up the hill.. mac i cant wait. i should get my new rv in about 2 weeks. -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- .

sirius is also considerably more expensive per month and gives you nothing for it. except the most commercial free stations nfl exclusivity npr and a bunch of other stuff. well worth the extra two buck a month not even that if you pay annually .

as far as i can determine a yard of topsoil actually weighs 2500 lbs so it sounds like you were quite a bit overloaded and sagging could be expected. keep in mind that the actual payload limit has to be reduced by the weight of driver passengers options and other cargo. jph jason g wrote i just bought a 2000 dakota last week that came with the towing package. im having difficulty determining just what that means besides the hitch receiver. from my guesstimation and net research it means heavy duty rear brakes and a 3.55 rear end anything else i also put it to work this weekend hauling a yard of bulk topsoil. from what the guy said at the place it probably weighed around 1800 pounds so i know it was a leetle overloaded even though the 4.7v8 powered along like it was a piece of cake. the truck was very noticeably sagging on the ass end but more bothersome was when i went over a small water channel dip in the street at about 15-20mph and the damn thing bounced front-to-back like crazy even banged the rear bumper on the ground. so the question is do i need new shocks or springs or was this just because i had exceeded the specified load i did the bounce-on-the-bumper test and it seemed a bit loose but i dont know how bouncy these trucks are right out of the box. the truck has just over 100000 miles o

says... i figured that i could put a chalk mark on the drive shaft and on the tire jack it up and get an idea of the gear set in the truck. i thought that if the drive shaft turned four times for one rotation of the wheel it meant i had a gear set roughly 4.0. that works if you have an anti-slip differential and you jack up both rear wheels. with open differential and one wheel jacked up do two revolutions of the tire. .

mac wrote my 97 dakota with about 80000 miles was at the dodge dealer getting some minor service recently and my service rep and tech said the truck needs 2 things based on their observation 1 flush brake fluid which was never done before 2 clean throttle body. i dont do these kinds of things myself so i want to know whether i should have the dealer do it $120 for #1 and $139 for #2 or is this simple enough to have any mechanic do it much cheaper...though i dont know any actually other than the dodge dealer. yeah its about time for that. neither job is technically difficult. but they are time consuming and thats what you pay for. you could do it yourself for about $15 or so. you could probably save a few bux going to an independant shop. but if youre happy with your local dealer i wouldnt change that. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .
